856.0. "Casio CZ101 MIDI SYSEX Patch Dump" by ECADSR::SHERMAN (one rubber nose!) Mon Jul 06 1987 12:53

    Hey, anybody know the MIDI sysex sequence I need to send to the CZ-101
    to make it spill its voice guts? Should be something like F0-44-20-01-F7
    to do a send request 1. The sequence I gave ain't it, of course.
    The manual refers to it, but gives no details. Any other MIDI
    implementation notes would also be appreciated, if anybody has
    anything. Seems to me somebody mentioned something about an address
    I could write to for Casio's MIDI implementation notes, but I could
    find no such address in my documentation. Thanks!

856.1Let's see, it's here somewhere ...NIMBUS::DAVISMon Jul 06 1987 13:246

    See note 409.9, it has most of the details from the Casio MIDI guide.
    Casio is somewhere in NJ, I think. If you still need the address
    (to get your own copy of the guide) I have it at home somewhere.

856.2another question...LOLITA::DIORIOFri Jul 24 1987 14:105

    I have another question....I was under the impression that the CZ-101
    was 8-voice multitimbral, but in reading an article in Electronic
    Musician, it appears that the CZ101 is only 4-voice multitimbral.
    Is there any way to get 8 seperate different monophonic voices out of it?

    Buy 2.

    The CZ-101 is 8 voices if the patch uses only rail; most interesting
    patches use both rails, hence only 4 voices (even my Super Jupiter
    has this limitation!).

    Why they limited the multitimbrality (is that really a word?) to
    only 4 voices is beyond me; maybe it made the software easier.

    len (who loves his CZ anyway).

    Hi
    Can the CZ101 be multi-timbral from its internal sequencer?
    Does it have an internal sequencer?

    Re: .4

    Sorry, Tom, no sequencer on the 101.

    The CZ-5000 which was the old top of the line did have a sequencer
    but it primitive as far as editing goes...decent amount of note
    storage though.

    In general the 101 will look like either a 4-note polysynth *or*
    four monosynths, selectable from the MIDI menu.

    I looked at 409.9 -- it seems to be some other note. Does anyone know
    where the Casio Midi Guide note is??

    Thanks,
