306.0. "Roland MSQ100 Sequencer Blowout" by ERLANG::FEHSKENS () Fri Apr 11 1986 18:32

    Presumably in anticipation of the 60000 note, full editing capability,
    3.5" disk-driven MC-500 sequencer, Roland is unloading the MSQ-100
    for a song. Namely $175 at your friendly neighborhood EUWurlitzer.
    The MSQ-100 is a deal for $175!!!!!! It has 5500 note capacity
    and in place bar delete and insert capability. You can program
    legato in step mode (nice feature), and it will remember bar lines
    even with occasional weird bar lengths (e.g., 2/4 or 3/4) - they
    don't all have to be the same bar length. It will also rechannelize
    incoming MIDI data (albeit in a slightly clumsy way). It will
    overdub and can be MIDI master or slaved to another MIDI clock.
    It has FSK tape sync and tape memory dump/load. It is compatible
    with Roland DIN sync. Get 'em while they last!

    Whoo hah - that's a deal!!

    For those who don't know anything about the MSQ-700, it's an 8 track
    sequencer modeled after a tape deck - it has overdub, merge, and
    time correct, fast forward and rewind. Holds about 6500 notes.
    Tape dump and sync interface. Roland DIN sync interface. Step
    and real time recording. All bars assumed to be a same length.
    No in place insert or delete. No channelization. With the MSQ-100's
    edit facilities and the MSQ-700's multitrack/merge/timecorrect/unmerge
    capabilties you can have a pretty incredible 12000 note sequencer
    combo for about $450!

306.3Mine arrived and it's great!!ADVAX::SPEEDDerek SpeedFri May 02 1986 14:3312
    I just received my MSQ-100 last night via UPS from Sam Ash for a
    price of $149. I played with it for about 20 minutes before crashing
    into bed and my opinion is that for the price, you'd be crazy not
    to buy one. Even if I get a computer and sequencing software in
    the future, having a small portable box for gigs is well worth it
    and I can simply down-line load the edited sequences from the computer
    to the MSQ.

    Now all I have to do is buy more MIDI synths so I can hear more
    than one voice at a time!!

306.4MSQ-700's sold out...JUNIOR::DREHERWed Jun 11 1986 17:218
    Sam Ash is sold out of MSQ-700's. I guess they went like hot cakes.
    The salesman said they flew out of there. The still have MSQ-100's.

    I'd like to get the MSC-500, but know one seems to have them in
    stock. Anybody know what the hang up is? It's been advertised
    for several months.

306.5Any Day Now...ERLANG::FEHSKENSWed Jun 11 1986 19:249
    MC-500s have not been shipped yet. I've been promised mine around
    the end of June or early July. I expect this really means August.
    I haven't seen any Roland ads for it yet, just product description
    blurbs in magazine "what's new" columns.

    I think they ran into some "software problmes".
