278.0. "New Roland Juno Gear" by DYO780::SCHAFER (Brad Schafer) Fri Mar 21 1986 18:18

    Any comments/opinions on the Juno-1 and Juno-2 synths from Roland?

    One of my friends played one last night and is still slobbering
    all over himself.  What gives?

278.1Not bad, but...7618::SEIGELTue Mar 25 1986 13:5715
    Hello again! I was in a music store that happened to have both,
    and having had a Juno once, decided to check them out. They are
    much smaller thatn the older ones, but still pretty dense. As far
    as sound goes, the presets are better, the data entry is via a single
    wheel a la DX-7 etc, etc. The sound is still pretty thin w/o
    chorusing, but the string sounds are still sweet, and they even
    had a decent flute (not anywhere near the DX-7's, though, but for
    < 1/2 list price, not bad) and an interesting jet take-off. For
    starters, it would be fine, but considering that the Matrix-6 is
    only 1595 list, vs. ( I think) and 1195/895 list fot the JU-2/1,
    I would buy the Matrix. Much more for the money...

    An Oberheim/Yamaha owner's opinion...

278.2Even better...ERLANG::FEHSKENSTue Mar 25 1986 14:335
    If you don't need yet another keyboard, the Matrix-6R at $995 looks
    like an incredible deal.
