183.0. "Yamaha AFTERTOUCH magazine" by BANZAI::RAVAN () Fri Nov 15 1985 15:59

I just received a complimentary copy of the YAMAHA "AFTERTOUCH" magazine,
the official publication of the Yamaha User's Group. 'Tis pretty good,
if you don't mind some ad hype. The technical info on DX-7 voices was
worth the entire read. If you have purchased any YAMAHA X-series hardware,
you should be getting a copy for starters. Anyone else interested should find
a copy at a local music store and send in the post card. Subscription is
currently free. For an idea as to contents, this was the first issue:

    DX7 Programming
The anatomy of two new DX7 sounds, plus some general tips
    	for editing your own voices.

    PICKGUITAR
A new DX7 voice created by Gary Leuenberger.

    SLAPCONGAS
A new DX7 voice created by Dr. John Chowning.

    MIDI Basics
The ins and outs of MIDI - the lowdown on the three basic MIDI ports.

    TX7 and DX7
How to use the TX7 as a function/performance controller.

    D1500
The D1500 digital delay and MIDI.

    YAMAHA Product List
All the AFTERTOUCH products [some hype, but a comprehensive price list]

    QX1 Introduction
Your first 30 minutes with the QX1.

    CX5M Data Cartridge
How to use the UDC01 data cartridge with CX5M programs.

    CX5M New Products
A first look at two new CX5M products: The YRM301 MIDI Recorder and
    	the YRM302 RX Editor.

    Questions
KX88 MIDI ports, DX7 envelopes, and how to play the RX rhythm
controllers with a keyboard via MIDI.
