149.0. "Roland JX3P Velocity Sensing Upgrade" by KATADN::BOTTOM () Tue Sep 17 1985 10:09

When visiting one of our Roland dealers last weekend I was told that
there is a velocity sensitive upgrade for the JX3-P. What this upgrade
accomplishes is that if used as a MIDI slave driven by a velocity
sensitive unit the JX3 sounds will become velocity sensitive. This does
not make the JX3 itself a velocity sensitive keyboard. The cost $120
I thought this was a little high as it entails adding one EPROM to the
keyboard. The dealer wouldn't divulge the source for the EPROM but I am
planning on writing to Roland to see if they sell it.

In the Roland Users Group magazine, they have an order form for the EPROM
upgrade. I forget the exact cost, but I seem to remember it is a lot less
than $120. When I get home I'll check it out.

I am asking Roland if they have (or plan to have) something similar for the
JUNO 106.

Dave (and others),

Roland sells the JX-3P velocity sensitivity upgrade for $49.95 according
to their Roalnd Users Group magazine order form.

I don't think it is worth $70 to pull apart your synth, pop out a chip, pop
in a new one, then put your synth back together. Sounds like I'm in the
wrong business!!
