141.0. "Recommendation: Looking for Synth w/ Piano Sounds" by TUNDRA::TRAHAN () Thu Aug 29 1985 19:35

Recently I submited a note under the "MUSIC" heading inquiring about
electronic keyboards and was referred to this note file for assistance.

In checking through this notes file I noticed that the majority of the
notes are in refference to synths, digital recording, etc.

What I am looking for is something that is close to a piano sound with
3 or 4 other voices. I would also like to have some dynamic expression simular
to a piano, but not necessarily to the extent of weighted keys. I do however
like the effects of velocity sensitive keys. I have played piano several years
ago and that is mainly the type of playing I would be doing.

To date, this is the closest I've found:

YAMAHA'S YPR8 - This is a 61 key keyboard with velocity sensitive keys,
		  3 piano voices, 1 harpsicord, and a vibe. ( around $500 )

Any comments or suggestions would greatly be appreciated!

From your description of what you want, and your description of the Yamaha
YPR8, it sounds like you need look no further. Does the YPR8 fail to meet
your needs in some way? If you're willing to spend a lot more money you
should check out the Yamaha DX7.

John,	Thanx for the reply. The YPR8 does seem to fit the bill as to what
I want but, I live in Vermont and we have a limited selection of
retailers as well as different manufacturers hardware in the area.

Just thought I'd check the outside world first.
