| Can you narrow it down a bit .... it's a BIG country, how much time do
you have and how much travelling within Canada are you expecting to do?
Are you an urban or outdoors type?

| As said before it depends what you like!
When I visited the biggest thing that struck me was just the SIZE of
the place, EVERYTHING is huge, from roads to fridges to mountains.
Something I hadn't planned on doing when I was there, but subsequently
became my favourite memory was driving between Vancouver and Nelson,
up through the mountains, truly breathtaking!
Although I suspect that being from Italy you'll seen more mountains
than I had before I went there (ie I'd NEVER seen a mountain before!)

| I think Ottawa is worth a visit. Great Museums and the refurbished peace
tower and it's just a beautiful city. Take a drive up to Chaplain
Lookout, take a cruise down the canal, have a poutine at a chip wagon.

| Hello,
Newfoundland, especially Gros Morne National Park and L'Anse Aux
Meadows.
Many places in Nova Scotia, agree with previous notes about Halifax and
Cape Breton Island.
British Columbia, especially Victoria, Vancouver Island.
Many of the provincial capitals have wonderful provincial museums that
are a must.
Quebec, especially Quebec City, the only walled city in North
America, stay at the Chateau Frontenac, and visit Forillon
(spelling?) National Park as you drive around the Gaspe Peninsula.
Banff and Lake Louise in Alberta.
Speaking as a tourist (from USA), these are some of my favorite places
to visit.
Other possible interesting trips:
Calgary Stampede, a summer event I think.
Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology and Tyrrell Museum Field Station,
Alberta, especially if you like dinosaurs.
There are really lots of great choices, depending on your budget of
time and money.

| Hamilton? What visit the Stelco and Dofasco steel plants? Ok so the
Royal Botanical Gardens are quite nice, but visit the Bouchard Gardens
in Victoria for a gorgeous garden.
Niagara Falls ... as touristy as it is it is still a marvelous sight.
Drive from Niagra Falls to Niagara-on-the-Lake, a nice drive along the
Niagara River. Niagara-on-the-Lake is a beautiful little town with the
shops, restaurants, theater and Fort George to visit.
Did you mention what time of year you're doing this? June to September
are the best times of the year climate wise.

| In addition to some of the places mentioned, I would add Prince Edward
Island(PEI). A great place to spend a week.

Seriously,
The Official opening of the twinned Bluewater Bridge between Sarnia, Ontario,
Canada and Port Huron, Michigan, US is scheduled for July 12, 1997. The
crossing between Port Huron and Sarnia is the 2nd most busy site in the
entire border between Canada and the US... the new bridge is a sight to
behold.
And don't forget to sample the 'chips' under the bridge overlooking the
beautiful St. Clair River (part of the famous St. Lawrence Seaway) and watch
the boats go by.
