954.0. "Chateau Fleur de Lys?" by BRAT::JANEB (See it happen => Make it happen) Mon Aug 07 1995 17:56

I'm looking for lodging in Quebec City and I've found a number of older
references to the Chateau Fleur de Lys. Has anyone out there been
there recently? Would you recommend it?

I'm looking for something not-too-fancy, where well-behaved children
would be comfortable, in the old city.

Do you have any other recommendations?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jane

Just got back from Au Chateau Fleur de Lys this weekend (reference
933.7). Do not mistake it for the also mentioned Hotellerie Fleur de
Lys (reference 231.4 or 231.11 I believe). There are many
establishments in Quebec City with Fleur de Lys in the name.

Au Chateau Fleur de Lys is behind the Chateau Frontenac. We paid about
$75 per night plus parking. That's one of the advantages of this little
hotel, it has its own parking area behind the hotel. I would still
recommend it, and I believe it would be suitable for a family. Book
well in advance. We booked four weeks ago and got their last room this
past weekend. The whole city was packed.

Another possibility (because of the kids) is to book in one of the
hotels in St. Foy. It is a suburb of Quebec City, about a 15 minute
drive from the old city. These hotels are your typical motor hotels
with pools and so on. I have stayed at Auberge des Gouverneurs in St.
Foy. The difference in cost can pay for taxis into town.

954.2HOLIDAY INN JUST AS GOOD??POLAR::LALUMIEREMon Aug 14 1995 23:118
    RE: 954
This time of year your probably better off staying just outside
of old Quebec. There are plenty of fine hotel/motels that are
very competitve in their prices. Qubec city is`nt that big so there`s
not alot of driving no matter where you stay. St. Foy is just outside
Quebec and have lots of great deals for lodging.
                                               ENJOY,
