847.0. "Zoo's " by KARHU::PARENT (Eat life or life eats you!!) Tue Aug 02 1994 12:20

Any Zoo's in the province of Quebec near Montreal or Quebec City?

I was told of one called Grandby (sp) Zoo, but don't really know where
it is. I am planning a trip up to Quebec City this weekend.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    merci-

    .1 Thanks again Jody!!

    Is Granby still open??

So has anyone been to Granby, is it a fairly large zoo or is it small
kind of like a petting zoo??

Would one spend the whole day there??

    What are the costs??

    	Thanks, bp-

It's a heavy petting zoo nowadays.

The Granby Zoo is a full size zoo. (ie: not just a petting zoo.) The highway
is not 20. To get there you take L'Autoroute des Cantons L'Est or highway 10.

	Ben,

I thought it was on the Eastern Township autoroute.

	Just curious,

847.6my mistake....POLAR::BRIANMon Aug 08 1994 12:5710

Yes, I realized my mistake as soon as I entered the note. It IS
highway 10, otherwise known as L'Autoroute des Cantons de l'est, and
may also be known as the Eastern Townships Autoroute. All I could
remember was that it went to Sherbrooke!

    Oops.

Be thankful there were no ferries involved.

There's the Parc Safari in Hemmingford, which is South of Montreal close to
the U.S. border. It's quite popular in Quebec. Last winter they had a
severe case of sickness (don't remember which one) which affected many of
the animals. I'm not sure how they recovered. They advertise a lot
this year so they must still be in full operation.

It's a drive-through zoo where you drive into the habitat of the animals
and can feed them right from your car, most of them. My kid loved it.
Bring a big bag of carrots.

There's also lots of rides, amusement for kids, and tube water slide.

It's big enough to keep a family busy all day.

We went to Granby Zoo this past weekend, had a great time, cost was
$15. for adults didn't notice what it was for kids (didn't bring any).
We really loved the large cat exhibit, all in all we had a good time.
The place was mobbed, tons of kids. There were a lot of zoo staff
walking around with animals that you could pet or feed, they would
explain the animal in French then in English, thought that was nice.

    Thanks for the prior info...
