798.0. "Winning UGLY" by KAOFS::D_STREET () Fri Feb 25 1994 13:45

I am shocked by the blatent poor sportsmanship displayed by the
American gold medal "winner" in womens short track speed skating
yesterday. She wiped out people all over the place. In the last race,
she elbowed her way past the leader in a manner that would make Gordie
Howe proud. I want to know which NHL team has the rights to her, with
elbows like that, she'd be *ELL in the corners.

You would think she would notice the BOOO's while she carried the flag
around in oblivious bliss. They cheered the hard luck guy from the
states, so it's not that the crowd was against Americans, they just
knew what the "judges" must have known as well, she got the medal by
    hook and by crook.

I saw the race and I don't know what your talking about. It was
the Canadian girl who was disqualified. The poor American was wise
enough to protect her turf, er interest thats all!

Who you gonna believe a Chinese commi? Whoops your an NDP aren't you?
That would mean your associated with the RED CANCER.

You must have been watching the "quality" coverage on CBS to have
missed it. I was watching CTV. Oh, by the way, how did they fit all the
heats into the 17min/hr of sports that they actually show ? Maybe they
were providing another heart rending vignette when the infraction
    occured.

I think KAOFS::M_COTE is only egging you on!

I agree that CBS' coverage leaves something to be desired.

Sorry, I'm always one step off the direction of your discussions.
Letse, Your intention of writing this note was to bring attention
to the lousy coverage by CTV. No it was to bring attention to the
deplorable way they only showed the points of interest to a very
exciting sport. No is was to bring attention that, like curling, the
sport of short track racing must be watched from beginning to end
to appreciate of strategy involved. No, I think it was, chicks look
great in those skin tight pj's

Mike would never "egg" anybody on, that would involve supply side
management, which he is against. :*)

Short track is for the birds to be totally honest. Roller derby on
ice is all it is. The American Gladiator Olympics has a nice ring
to it. I didn't know whether to laugh or puke at this sport.
I wonder if anybody ever lost a finger on those turns?

I think it's a great evolution of speed skating. It's an exciting sport
to watch, much more exciting than say "snooker" is. The relay is very
    exciting to watch.
