722.0. "Digital facility in Toronto?" by JEREMY::MAURENE (Maurene Fritz, Jerusalem) Wed Jun 23 1993 10:55

I will be in Toronto from July 25 to August 11, visiting family and
friends. I need to keep in touch with my project while I'm "over
    there".

Is there a Digital facility in Toronto (preferably close to downtown)
where I could read e-mail and/or use the DTN?

Yes, the Toronto office is right downtown and is located at 505
University Avenue. Depending on where you are staying, the build can be
easily seen from a number of locations. It is a 20+ story building with
the Digital Logo across the top.

TRC is at the corner of University Ave and Edward street.
Edward street is 1 block north of Dundas. There are some
cubicals with terminals and dtn phones for Customer
Service techs on the 17th floor.

Go to reception on 19th floor to get an access card. You
need the access card to operate the elevator to go to the
17th floor and Customer Service is on the left hand side
when you come out of the elevator lobby on the 17th floor.

You would need a captive account to sethost to you home
office computer. I think Ed services may have this sort
of arrangement since they have students from other places.
Ed services is located in the same building.

Enjoy you visit in Toronto.

I'm also planning to drop by the TRC office and will need to log-in.

Does anyone know specifically how I'd do this in Toronto?

Here we would at the Local} prompt type in "visitor" followed by
    connect to: node name....

    Is Toronto any different?

    Cheers,

I think ed services @TRC should be the best candidate to answer this
question cause I know they have visiting instructors form other place
who would need set host access.

I can setup a captive account for you. Please let me know your ETA and
    node(s) you want to access.

I just want to say that My husband and I went over to Toronto July 7-11
and we stayed at the Westin Harbour Castle. The Toronto people over
there were so pleasent! When we shopping at Eaton Centre no one was
pushy or rude. Also, it is a very clean city!!! (Especially when you
are from Boston we have never seen clean city) We just want to express
our thanks for the warm hospitality! We are definitely coming again!
(Now I want a Dome in Boston!!!) Thanks again Toronto for making my
    vacation enjoyable!!!

(The only thing I forgot to do is go into the DEC Facility in Toronto!)

    Thanks,
     Carrie

I'd like to thank David Cheng for helping me get started in Toronto.

And I especially want to thank Elaine the receptionist at TRC, for
helping me use the facility. I was able to keep in touch with my
project, which turned out to be very important.

    Thanks a lot!

Other than work, Toronto was fantastic. We got to do about 1/3 fo the
things we wanted to...there is SOOO much to enjoy.
