697.0. "Dollar for Dollar" by KAOFS::M_COTE (I'm a mod, not a rocker) Fri Apr 30 1993 18:22

It has been suggested here, that DOLLAR for DOLLAR the best bang
for your entertainment dollar has to be the PAY TV channels. I kinda
of like JIFFY pop or BALL HOCKEY as my choose as DFD best bang for
    my entertainment dollar.

Does anyone else have any other big value ideas for their
    entertainment dollars?

talk about 1-900 numbers!

Do what everybody else does: sit by 1 bottle of beer for a whole night at
the Brass Rail in downtown Toronto (or any other S. Joint in town),
surely nothing beats this D.F.D. value!

This could be considered quite a good value for money (DFD):

(short notice, but hell, who cares!)

There's a 60's style Rock & Roll party this coming Friday
(07-MAY-1993) @around 7pm here in Toronto (western To.) $22 per person
(or $37 for couples) that covers food plus rental & door prizes
(ranging from hotel rooms , T-shirts, etc,...) a friend of mine is
organizing it but I only found out today... So, if you're around
Toronto on Friday night you should be there!

So if interested please PHONE me A.S.A.P. so that I can reserve
tickets for you!

My DTN is 631-7014 (home number 416-368-5311)

and once again:

	The Time:	07-MAY-1993	19:00

	The Place:	3100 Keele Street,
			Ramses Shriner's Club,
			Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Planet Earth...

Ricardo, you're old, man...! I was only a dirty thought on my parents
mind when you were already mastering LIFE. Then it happened and in
1966 I came around.

So, pampers are ON dude! But make sure you wear it with suspenders &
greased back hair-do!

697.16Brief History LessonPOLAR::RICHARDSONSick in a balanced sort of wayFri May 07 1993 15:2811
Well Shawn, actually back 1963, there were no disposable diapers, cloth
diapers and rubber pants was the only alternative. Then of course the
assassination of John F. Kennedy changed all of that and then began the
Vietnam War which propagated the development of Pampers by Johnson &
Johnson during the Johnson administration in the 60s.

Certainly turbulent times to be potty trained to say the least!

    But, I survived.

The Vietnam War started under the Kennedy administration.
697.18POLAR::RICHARDSONSick in a balanced sort of wayFri May 07 1993 17:1213
                              -< Technically Yes >-

During the Kennedy administration, the Americans were not sent in to
go to war with North Vietnam but by the request of the South
Vietnamese for protection. Things escalated into war with the North
during the Johnson (Pampers) administration. The reason I remember this
is because one day I was spanked because I did potty in my pants when I
heard the news. I was then told that: "potty goes in the potty, bad
    boy!"

Certainly turbulent times to be doing latrine duty.

    I want to complain!

    Where are the moderators?

How can they allow this kind of silly drivel to go on? It's clear that
this doesn't have anything to do with Canada and only confuses the
    onlookers.

Where are the famed SCUD wet blankets?

In a nutshell, this isn't as fun as when you know the teacher is going
    to yell at you.

The moderators have been noticibly absent recently. That means we can
talk about whatever we want. That said...

Did anyone take offense or have anything REALLY bad to say about
Somalians invading the former Yugoslavia and forcing all residents to
learn French so they can help Quebec overthrow Canada and claim the
Grand Canal so they can then load water bombers to flood Iraq, and make
Saddam Hussein flee to China where he can be fully repressed and forced
to make non-working refrigerators and ride a bicycle? :-) :-)

Have I succeeded at not leaving anyone out?

I think Ted was using the "Royal WE" as in "We are not amused".

This is in contrast to using the "Royal We We" which has other
    darker implications.
