685.0. "Vancouver/Burnaky Ads" by PEKING::HUTCHISONP () Mon Apr 19 1993 17:17

    This is a big one.

    I'm noting from Reading, UK with the hope that someone who knows the
    Vancouver/Burnaky area can help.

    My girlfriend is currently travelling across Canada to end up in
    Burnaky around the beginning of May. Her visit to that part of Canada
    ties up with her birthday and the need for a present arises. My hope,
    if at all possible, is to put a message in a newspaper that covers the
    Burnaky area as I know the address where she will be staying on her
    birthday.

    I can make the message. I know the address. I know when her birthday
    is. What I do not know is what the local newspapers are in that area
    and how to get in touch.

    If anybody knows, would it be possible to let me know the Titles,
    Addresses, Fax and/or phone numbers of newspapers that would cover this
    area and would possibly take a classified ad of this sort.

    I hope someone there can help. Personally I'm not even certain where
    the DEC Offices are in Canada so I look forward to any help you can
    provide.

    Thanks in advance

685.2Two major Vanc dailies...VAOU09::BOTMANPieter Botman - Western Canada DISMon Apr 19 1993 22:4019
    Burnaby is in Greater Vancouver.

    Two major dailies serve Vancouver:

    	Vancouver Sun (daily morning Broadsheet except Sundays)
    	Vancouver Province (daily morning tabloid 7 days/week)

    The Toronto Globe & Mail is available everywhere in Canada's urban
    areas, so an ad there would certainly be widely read.

    I don't have the addresses, phone and FAX numbers handy, perhaps your
    local library has a copy of the Vancouver Sun. Otherwise you will have
    to wait a few days until I get my next copy of the Sun, after which I
    can enter them... Anyone else in Vancouver have one handy???
