566.0. "Yarmouth ideas?" by CGHUB::YEZOMBEK () Wed May 06 1992 18:41

I am looking for suggestions for things to do, and a good place for
dinner in Yarmouth. I will be taking the overnight ferry from Portland
to Yarmouth a few weekends from now. I will be in Yarmouth Saturday
and Saturday night without a car.

    Thanks in advance

I might be able to help here...For meals I'd recommend the restaurant
directly up from the Ferry terminal (across from the tourist bldg)-
you'll see it from the Ferry(sorry dont remember name). If you do
"fish" then this place ain't bad ..try their seafood chowder.
They arn't so bad for 'red fish' either (thats Lobster). There ain't
much there for good red meat--you might try Harris's for a steak or
the big hotel on main st across from Doctor's lake ...all the way down
main st on the right..biggest building in town.

What to do...I'd suggest getting a cab and going to Yarmouth
light..this is called "Fouchou Light"(sp?) and is the light house you
pass on the way into Yarmouth harbor...word of warning dont mess around
on the seaward side of the lighthouse lots of folks have fallen in here
and never been recovered. There is a historical museum and a
fire-fighters museum in town and lots of gift-shops..some pretty
    decent.

If you can rent a car..the prettiest part of southern NS is an area
called "tusket Island".....For the most part places like Surrettes
Island, Sluice Point, Amiriault's Hill, Morris Island are the same
now as they were 50 years ago. If you can do a car call me and I'll
    give you directions.

If none of the above..bring a collasping fishing rod and fish off the
pier next to the ferry dock....enjoy and let us know your impressions.

Regards 'The Canuck" Who is Soon to buy a house in Sluice point.

    Hey Mr/Mz Moderator ...

Is it OK/Polite/feasible to ask the original noter for some response
for the info put in? I am not taliking kudos or a thousand thank-you
but a short reponse indicating the experience had relative to this
     note!

Don't want no "waste everyone's time RATHOLE" would be nice to get a
     reaction.

The Canuck...it must be Monday morning this lack of return ticks me
     off.

Well ... you have his node and username ... why not send a piece of
email asking for a trip report ? (It may well be that, like many noters,
after getting their request for info answered they don't return ...
although I must admit some follow up trip reports would be nice) You
might even ask him if he'd mind taking the time and posting it here ...
