    Dundas is a suburb of Hamilton, Ontario so you should also consider
    locations in the west end of Hamilton. If you have access to a car also
    consider the Town of Ancaster as a possibility.

    MacMaster University is virtually on the border between Hamilton and
    Dundas I believe they rent rooms in their residences through the summer
    months.

    The main number at MacMaster is 416 525 9140 ask for the on campus
    housing office.

    The Hamilton/Wentworth Tourism Information Centre is 416 546 4222.
    Hamilton, Dundas and Ancaster are all in the area this office covers.

560.3Hamilton is REALLY a suburb of Dundas!TROOA::DLOTENSemper ubi sub ubi.Mon May 25 1992 15:038
    Not to confuse the issue, but from Dundas' perspective (and as one who
    was born there, I must view things this way), Hamilton is a suburb
    (granted, a very large one) of Dundas, since Dundas is older than the
    Steel town by a number of years!! The Desjardines canal was dug to
    connect the thriving town to what is now Hamilton bay through the swamp
    land that is now a beautifil botanical garden.

560.4What would Dundas be without Hamilton? Nothing!TROOA::GKAMGreg Kam, DEC Exec. Fortune TellerTue May 26 1992 15:0926

    Hamilton a suburb of Dundas? Maybe historically speaking, but nowhere
    close to what the "common perception" of "suburb" is.

    Sorry to rain on your parade, but Dundas is puny in comparison to
    Hamilton. Maybe back in the early 1900's it was something, but now
    there's virtually nothing there but houses, farms (and a school
    possibly?).

    Hamilton is the industrial and social/economical centre for it's region
    - no doubt about it. Why take my advice? Well, I too, was born and
    raised in Hamilton and frequently took bicycling trips out to Dundas --
    but came back to the city because there really isn't anything to do
    there (except parks, I guess).

    I'm not sure if the previous noter was serious or not, but Dundas
    residents are usually better off financially and it is the perception
    of this one individual (me) that they like to detach themselves from
    Hamilton with some superiority complex.

    Sorry, DLOTEN, this is not directed at you personally, but that reply
    seems typical to me of those opinions held by typical Dundas residents.

    Greg
560.5Many pardons!TROOA::DLOTENSemper ubi sub ubi.Wed May 27 1992 16:2417

    Well Greg,

    Perhaps I was thinking back in time, to when I was a youngster in
    Dundas, but not as far back your note would like to intimate.

    And yes, there was a certain amount of tongue-in-cheek intended!

    While things have changed in the 30-odd years since I left Dundas, it
    still retains a 'small-town' feel that residents would certainly like
    to retain.

    I'm sorry to have caused you such 'angst' in my comments about my
    birthplace.

    Must be something about Dundas as my many of my relatives who grew up
    and lived in Hamilton "on the mountain" decided that moving to the
    upper regions of Dundas was where it's at!

    I'm trying to find out about some "odd" activity in (I think Dundas)
    Canada, even though the person stated the town was a suburb of London.
    Maybe I heard the name of the town wrong. I'll be rechecking this
    info soon.

    Anyway, the activity pertains to unmarked black helicopters which fly over
    lake Michigan and conduct operations in the state of Michigan. They
    are supposedly under UN control.

    Anyone confirm & clarify or deny this info? Thanks.

    Dundas is on the Burlington Bay, the triangluar bay off the west end of
    Lake Ontario, long way from Michigan.
560.9VMSNET::M_MACIOLEKFour54 Camaro/Only way to flyMon Jun 06 1994 20:475
    I saw where it was on the map. I looked all around the city of
    London for a name that sounded like (or started with a "d"), then I
    looked at a city/town index for Ontario and found Dundas.

    Anyway, have you heard anything "odd" via your media, or other means?
560.10Dundas is the main streetTROOA::MCRAMMarshall Cram DTN 631-7162Tue Jun 07 1994 01:1513

    The main street in London is Dundas Street. Lots of cars and buildings.
    No room for helicopters.

    There are no UN helicopters in Canada. There are no UN helicopters in
    the world, they all belong to member's states armed forces on loan.

    But they could be from Sarnia, of which I cannot speak safely.

560.11VMSNET::M_MACIOLEKFour54 Camaro/Only way to flyTue Jun 07 1994 06:5333
    I rechecked my information. The city is Dundas, and to call it
    a suburb of London is a stretch, but anyways...

    Supposedly, Dundas was "mundialized". This is where the city or
    municipality "refutes" citizenship in this case from Canada, and becomes
    an "affiliate" of the UN. It still operates as it were part of Canada
    (i.e. your still taxed, but you operate under UN charter). Dundas was an
    entry point for bringing in foreign military assets into the US.
    Supposedly this activity was moved from Dundas to Mitchell Bay which
    is right across Lake Ontario and borders on Mt. Clemens airspace in
    Michigan. Also, supposedly Mitchell Bay is a POL point (Petrolium
    Oil and Lubricant's), so, are there any refineries there?

    Supposedly the helicopters would enter Mt. Clemens airspace, where they
    could not be challenged by US ATC, they were allowed to conduct
    operations at or near Sulfergen (sp?) Air National Guard. There
    have been 5 observed, but unreported aircraft crashes due to these
    operations in Michigan.

    Mundialization is mentioned and/or concepts defined in a book by or about
    George Bush, which I don't know the title to.

    I take everything with a grain of salt, and I'm a considerable distance
    away from the area which this stuff is pertaining too. Even still,
    I'm sure this sort of thing, if true doesn't make your media. The
    person who describes this stuff is a former Intelligence Analyst with
    the US military. His credentials seem valid, and he's on a "crap"
    list within our Gov't for talking about this stuff. If this stuff
    weren't true, the gov't wouldn't try and quietly "hush you up". This
    information is from late 1992, or possibly early 1993 and I must say
    I find his information very prophetic.

    MadMike
560.12Amazing, just amazingTROOA::MCRAMMarshall Cram DTN 631-7162Tue Jun 07 1994 12:4826

    The guy making this stuff up is an idiot. Sulfgergen ANG is Selfridge Air
    National Guard Base just north of Detroit. It is a major air force base,
    with lots of radar, SURROUNDED ON ALL SIDES BY FACTORIES, HOUSES,
    COTTAGES AND THE LAKE. It is a suburb of Detroit. Major airliners fly
    over every few minutes. This is an urban area, not a wilderness. The
    lake is full of boats ALL THE TIME. The only strange thing is that
    they still play a lot of Bob Seeger on the radio a lot, but that's about
    it.

    Take it from me this is all cr*p. If we could get the UN here there
    are a few Mohawk reservations they could patrol, and save the police a
    lot of hassle.

    Please be warned that any attempt to send Geraldo up here on this one
    will be regarded as an act of war.

560.13So you haven't heard anything I reckon.VMSNET::M_MACIOLEKFour54 Camaro/Only way to flyTue Jun 07 1994 13:4219
    I'll buy that. Some of the stuff sounded legit (i.e. what he said
    has already happened since he spoke, or can be looked up). Some of the
    other stuff I wanted clarification on. I've been to the Irish Hills
    a few times for some Winston Cup stuff at MIS, so I know that area
    isn't the Idaho wilderness.

    I also realize that some "odd" things may not really be odd, they
    are legitimite, explainable actions. I also realize not everything
    is always as it's explained.

    One thing:
    > Selfridge Air National Guard Base just north of Detroit. It is a
    > major air force base,

    Is this the base that was reclassified as a Class B military site
    (Federally controlled) from a Class D site (State Controlled). Or
    is that BS too?

    MadMike
560.14TROOA::SOLEYPain in the butt CanadianTue Jun 07 1994 13:466
    Dundas is a residential community, no industry to speak of, no airport,
    no highways and where it meets the bay is swampy parkland, so no
    shipping. It's smack in the middle of the Golden Horseshoe, Canada's
    most densely populated area. I'm prepared to believe that the US
    military is up to virtually anything covert you can think of but I'm
    darn sure it ain't happening in Dundas.
560.15TROOA::MCRAMMarshall Cram DTN 631-7162Tue Jun 07 1994 14:5421

    I don't know where you would find out whether it was Class this or
    that, that's never mentioned in anything I read. It's a reserve base
    with Air Force Reserve (C-130/HH-53), Air National Guard (F-16), Coast
    Guard, Some Army Reserve, Navy Reserve (P-3 Orions, plus others) and a
    few Army National Guard. They are having a major Air Show this weekend
    so you can go and look.

    It's not going to be reactivated, and it's not on the last close list
    that I saw. Phone 'em and ask. They need a laugh as much as we do.

    Actually we have a very real problem with unwanted US weapon's being
    smuggled into Canada from the US. Unlike the US we don't really like
    assault rifle and machine guns up here. The idea that they need to be
    smuggled down there is kind of funny. We don't have much surplus here,
    and the Michigan National Guard could overwhelm the Canadian Armed
    Forces. Especially if they threw cheap cigarettes and cheap beer from their
    tanks.

    How interesting it is to see how fast the whole thing has been denied.
    Well, there is a lot more to those rumors than you'd think.
    The people in Sarnia know. But they wont tell you. They are scared.
    Or they are with them.

    Gem sounds weak. Let say pure gold and clear diamond. It is also
