549.0. "The Rites of Spring!" by TROOA::DLOTEN (Semper ubi sub ubi.) Mon Mar 02 1992 18:25

While some places wait for the first robin, or for an old car to fall
through the ice on the nearby stream to signify the end of Winter and the
beginning of Spring, in Sarnia we wait for the first appearance of the Chip
Trucks (aka French Fries) under the Blue Water Bridge on the beautiful
banks of the St. Clair River.

   Well...

Spring is here! We had our first 'chips' under the bridge on Sunday.

    Ha Ha Ha ...

Just goes to show the difference in weather between opposite ends of
the province ... while you hit +12 on Sunday ... we in the deepfreeze
    east end were squeaking -12!

Spring still feels like it is still a L O N G way off here in Ottawa!

    Spring?

Man, we had buds on the cherry trees in the beginning of Feb, and
we've been in cherry blossom country from the last two weeks!

Yeah, but out in VAO land, you rarely get the weather the rest of
the country gets ... so with due respect ... you don't count!

Spring has sprung but no doubt short lived. It's a good thing that
plants don't have "brains". (Rat hole) My daffodils and tulips think
it's spring and are well on their way. I wonder how far they'll get
this year! It's been 10+ degrees above normal for the last month.
We're all waiting for the other shoe to drop.
