Will the Expos win the World Series???

I think the more appropriate question at this point is, "will the
Expos' stadium fall on their head, crushing their brains and destroying
their limited knowledge of managing a Major League Baseball Club?"

Call me a fence-sitter, but that's one man's humble opinion.

This is an Irish story but it could be applied to the Expos (and Ted
    will appreciate it):

A Gaelic footballer from County Down (Northern Ireland where the Queen
reigns) was asking a famous footballer from County Cork (in the
Republic of Ireland were the Queen doesn't reign) how Cork always
manages to win the All-Ireland championship, and what chances did the
Corkman think County Down had to win.

"Well, yer best always be using yer left hand fer to catching ta ball
and trowing too, like ya know."

"And why's that?", says the man from Co. Down.

"Ah, to keep yer roight hand clean fer to shake ta hand of ta Queen",
    says the Corkman.

"But you don't have a Queen, man!", exclaimed the Ulsterman.

"Ah, fer sure, and we'll have a Queen when County Down wins!"

The Expos will have a long wait too.

    Pat,

What the hell is a 'footballer'?? This is supposed to be good family
fun here, not perverted by some sort of sick Celtic folklore!

Oh ye of little faith!! Where were you in the Steve Rogers, Gary
Carter, Andre Dawson, Tim Raines years???

Of course the expos are "lower than a snake's belly in a wagon rut".
They've lost, within one year, all top three layers of management!

Give 'em some time, give 'em a good GM. The farm system has produced
people like Larry Walker, you can't fault them there.

As for the big owe, I agree its a national disgrace. Can't imagine
that the feds are still paying for it, though - I think its all
provincial and municipal pocket picking now.

P.S. A strong campaign is underway to move the 'spos to BC Place here
in vancouver "temporarily". Major problems appear to be
obtaining the permission of the Seattle owner, and reallignment
of east and west divisions. Plus, 'spos management are all
montrealais, they don't want to live here in beautiful BC. I
even heard speculation that they're looking at BUFFALO!!!!!

I have to admit, that I too was cheering for the Schpos in the early
80's. However, I have never seen such blunders in my life as those
that have been perpetrated by Expo's 'management'...Trading for
Langston was what put me over the edge, thought that was a stupid move.

Re: .1 (limited knowledge of management...)

FWIW, and for those who didn't know, the overall Montreal Expos organization
was voted tops by the Baseball Writter's Association (or some name similar to
that) for 2 years in a row now. That includes their entire organization from
the minors to the majors. For some obscure reason, this didn't result in a
winning team.

Isn't Pat Rushton a "Baseball Writer"?

    I rest my case!!!
