461.0. "Eris Lindros??" by MSEE::SYLVAIN () Thu Jun 20 1991 11:23

    	I'm suprise not notes has been entered yet about this week-end
    NHL draft.  Any interesting rumors???

    	Some of the newspaper/comments seen indicate that the #1 pick
    Eric Lindros doesn't want to play in Canada. Anyone has any
    further information about this.. Anybody seen this guy play??
    The papers claims that he is the new "great one" with a body like
    Mario.

I understood that he didn't want to play for any Canadian team.

His preference is supposed to be Chicago.

I heard on french radio this morning that he will not put on the Nordiques
sweater tomorrow during the NHL draft, if they draft him.

    Bargaining position. Quebec taxes are so high, that he'll want a
    monster contract.

    Lemieux did the same thing six or seven years ago. But Lemieux didn't
    have teammates like Sundin and Sakic there ahead of him. Quebec will
    reach the finals within 5 years (with Lindros).

I don't think that Quebec taxes are that much higher that it will affect any
bargaining at all. If you figure an extra 1 or 2% higher that Ontario (when
you don't have kids), out of $1,000,000, that's only an extra $10,000-$20,000.
