335.0. "noters of 331-334 + Edmontonians or any body else!" by VANDAL::SELMECZI () Wed Jul 25 1990 10:34

    Dear All !
("Edmontonians" and all the others within shooting distance...)

As have to leave notes shortly ( after the 10th August 1990),
I thought I start arranging somthing while I can.

As some may already know that I'm coming over to canada for good
on the 24th August 1990, I thought we could get together on the
    following Sunday ( 26th Aug.1990) for a little drinky in a respectable
or any other kind of pub (beerhouse, wine cella, etc...). That goes
for everybody who is interested, - can make it, know me from NOTES
    (or from anywhere else...).

Do you think this such s stupid idea ?

    Please add notes etc, A.S.A.P.
    						Yours Drinkfully,
    					Tamas The H.D.B.

With that combination you'd need one of those symbolic toilets as

    you'd glow in the dark...

Pubs etc... are not open on Sundays in Edmonchuc. And I'm going to the
coast for some Salmon fishing at the end of August thru the first week
of September so I won't be available for a Quaff fest.
However once you have arrived... come to the Edmonton Dec office and
I'm sure we can accomodate you.

Tamas:

If you are saying that this session is going to be in Edmonton
on Sunday, 26 August, I seriously doubt that I can make the 2,000Km trip!
However, I will be in Banff from 6-9 Sept. but without a car. If you want
to see a part of the Canadian Rockies and a great town for pubs, drop down
to Banff (about a 3 hour drive from Edmonton) and we can get together.

For Your information Egri-Bikaver happens to be a very nice full
bodied red wine and having imbibed it on numerous occasions, not
just because of my surname, I for one think it's great. All of you
guys are makin' fun because you're jealous that you're not Honkies.

    Hello Ron!

    RE .11

Are you working on that Friday I'm coming to Edmonton?

    I'll be arriving @15:00.

It's quite easy to convince me that we should have something to drink
    on Friday as well!!!

    When, where and How???

    BTW, that's for everybody:
if you could give me your proper phone numbers (NOT the internal
Digital) I will probably be able to contact you lot while in Edmonton.

    Regards!

335.20The Rose and Crown Pub in Banff!KAOM25::RUSHTONUnscathed by inspired lunacyThu Jul 26 1990 19:0913
Tamas, I don't know what the schedule is for Banff; however, I believe
I'll be free on Friday and Saturday (7-8 Sept) until about 6PM each
day. There are plenty of great pubs in Banff and the location is
out of this world.

Call me at work at 613-591-4996 between 7AM - 3PM Edmonton time, or
at home at 613-256-2179 between 4PM - 8PM Edmonton time. Then I will
be able to get your number in Edmonton and give you a call when I
arrive in Calgary. If that is not possible, you can contact me at
the Banff Springs Hotel from 6-8 Sept., ask information for the hotel
telephone number. Ask the hotel for Joan or Pat Rushton.

<<Bah! Tourist trap. The King Eddy's your *real* Alberta beer barn!

When I was there in March, the King Eddy was a shell! It was completely
gutted as they were renovating it. Unless they work incredibly faster in
Banff than in the rest of the country, I don't think the King Eddy will
be ready for drinking inside, maybe outside on the main drag while you're
watching the construction though.

I guess all we need is some "proper" working close, and then we might

Tamas has arrived and we will be meeting for a few cold ones as soon as
I get back from holidays.....That is if he survives his choice of
hotels. He is staying in the Cecil Hotel which is about as bad as you
can get in Edmonton. We are working on finding him something a little
    more appropriate.

Ron and Tamas,

Let me know if either or both of you guys are going to be available
to drop down to Banff during 6-8 Sept. I'll be there for the DEC 100 awards
with my wife (she won the award, not me), but she likes a cold beer like
any true Canadian!

Cheers,

Pat

335.28Hello!? Is this note still alive?TROOA::SELMECZITue Mar 16 1993 20:3022
    Is this note still alive?

2.5 years delay, but finally I made it back in DEC (Canada).

There's a lot that happened in that past few years, but it's too long
to put in "a note", so maybe (!) we should re-think that idea of
'get-together'! But more about this in a later note, a new entry on
    the long list.

Last but not least, I want to say thanks for Pat's (Kaorf Barbunk) and
Ron Ryan in Edmonton in helping me getting started, and make me feel
much more welcome here! Sorry Ron, that I missed you in Edmonton, and
kind of suddenly moved down to Toronto, but it really looked bad
(workwise) in alta, and luckily in To. a job came my way faster (in 4
months) and has been working here since (first in Min. of Tourism &
Rec, then in Min. of Health, now at last back in the real world: at DEC
    in Toronto (@TRO)).

    So, I'm back.
Looking forward to some good 'noting'!

    Tamas, The H.D.B.

    Welcome back !!!

I thought I recognized the user name ... although the node name was
strange. Mind you, mine is the same ... I moved to Colorado and so
    got the CSC32:: node name!

to be as polite to you anymore :-)

335.31Your lucky day (year...) Mario!TROOA::SELMECZIMon Mar 22 1993 18:3015
    Yeah Mahn!

That's the one! You must be really happy no more silly questions from
Min. Of Health... not from me anyway...

Now I get to answer a few of those here in the TRO IOC.

But this is much better an environment than Health.

BTW. I seem to have missed a good notes-fight on bilingual issues,
etc... what a shame, I guess Derek Street (not mentioning any names)
made up for it all. I thought he went to Colorado too?!

    Later,
    /Tamas. (H.D.B.)
