318.0. "Hiking in Canada" by BERN01::DURAND (H. Durand, EIS Bern) Tue Jun 12 1990 11:38

I need some hints for my holidays in Canada (September/October 1990).
I'll visit my friends in Quebec. After that i'd like to go hiking.

Does anybody know an interesting guided tour?

Where can i get the address of lodges?

Where can i get more information?

There is a fine publication produced by the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool
Book Producers, entitled 'Take a Hike'. I'll find out where the
information is lodged and post it here.

318.4Ask your friends for Info..OTOA01::CORBINBRIANFri Jun 15 1990 20:3816
I would contact your friends in Quebec and have them do some of
the work for you. It would be easy for them to get some information
from the local tourist bureaus on places of interest and the local
sports/camping stores should have some information on nature hikes
    and trails of interest.
For example the city of Montreal has numerous horse and carriage
tours around the old section of the city. These tours run year-round
and take about 1/2 to 1 hour. The local guides are very informative
and friendly. Quebec City should have similar services.

Also the months of September and October are the best for hiking
since the tree leaves will be turning to their fall colors and
the bug season will have ended. An area north of Montreal called
the Laurentions will be a popular hiking area.

Slight correction: "Laurentians" or "Les Laurentides" not to confuse
    with "La Laurentide"!

Im a nw employee here but I do take offece with the unwarranted
attitude that kaom25::rushton takes towards hikers, by the way, are we
related? My branch of the family came from LLAMEDOS, in Wales.

I can see from your response that you are just like kaom25::rushton.
Obviously, a bad seed in the family and one that should be spat out!
You are a horrid man, the sooner my cousin Philip returns from his
sabbatical the sooner we shall deal with your kind.

But truly, dear NOTERS, do you for once accept this type of behaviour
from your fellows? I, for one, shan't accept this person 'fouling the
footpaths' of society with his outrageous inequities.

I don't know exactly where you people are in here, but we are obviously
around the same area (Phase XX), and we are here at the same time. Now, I
suggest you two calm down, maybe we can meet in the cafeteria and get
to know each other - we must be related.

Agatha, I'm very sorry if you took offence with my reply for the request
about hiking in Canada, but there really is a book by that title, 'Take
a Hike' and it is published by the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool.

WALLY, set your terminal to no-caps, capital letters in NOTES means that
you're yelling.

I acep your apology, kaom25::rushton, and I sahll like it very much to
meet you acquaintance at 8:00PM, in the cafeteria. However, I should
think that we should forewarn Secuity so that we might engage adequate
    protection from that horid man.

Last night at about 7:30 is saw that horrid man assembling what
looked to be a pipe bomb! The horrid man was wearing overalls, work
boots, a plaid shirt and an International Harvester cap. I also heard
him mumbling something about "blowing that b**ch Agatha's head off!"

Did anyone hear the explosion in the cafe last night? There are
apparently shreds of blue shirt and navy pants as well as pieces of a
red bonnet and leather hosen everywhere!

Stay away from those Rushtons, there trouble with a capital R.
