294.1 | Longest Rink in the World | KAOM25::TROTTIER | Thu May 10 1990 12:39 | 16 | |
Hi John, I don't know about Montreal, but if you have some time on your schedule, check out the outdoor skating here in Ottawa. The Rideau Canal is considered the longest skating rink in the winter. There are paved trails on either side of the canal for pedestrians,bicyclist and ROLLER SKATERS. These paths are maintained by the NCC (swept). Terrain is relatively flat. Maybe I'll see you there or give me a call at DTN 621-4581 and we can arrange a meeting place as long as you promise not to step on my blue suede roller skates. re .the_last: I'm so glad my Canadian friends are looking out for my well-being. I went skating in Parc Maisonneuve... sometime when the weather's better I might try a longer skate on the bike paths on the Lachine section of the Grand Canal. I might even rent some mules and water skates, but I'm concerned about cyclists getting caught on the tow lines. /john |
