266.0. "Hotel search" by AYOV16::LBOYD () Wed Feb 14 1990 11:37

    Please help,

    I have a friend who is going to Toronto for two weeks in June and is
    looking for budget priced accommodation. She requires that it be fairly
    central as she will not be hiring a car. I suggested a small hotel that
    I stayed in a few years back, I think it was the STRATHCONA HOTEL,
    which sits across from the ROYAL YORK HOTEL. However I don't have any
    contact details (in fact I don't know if it still exists). Can anyone
    advise of telephone no and address of this or any other hotel/motel
    which might fit the bill.

    thanks in advance,
                           Lenny

266.2Prince Hotel, Toronto??EN::VARDARONancyFri Sep 13 1991 13:508
    Hi,

    I will be travelling to Toronto for a User Conference next month
    and staying at the Prince Hotel. Can anyone give me any information
    about this hotel? I wasn't planning on renting a car ...is it
    centrally located? Thanks for any info you can provide.

    Centrally located is not a useful description for any place in Toronto,
    so it would help more if we knew where the conference was held.

    The Prince is located about 20-30 minutes drive north of the downtown,
    near the intersection of York Mills and Leslie.

    The Prince Hotel is not centrally located. It is a fairly posh,
    Japanese-owned hotel located north-east of the downtown area. It
    caters to a fairly high concentration of offices in the area (IBM,
    Mcdonalds, Shell). Rent a car if you want to get around in Toronto.
     The transit is on strike and the cabs are booked solid.

    It has the best Sunday brunch I've ever had.

    Glenn and Kris,

    Thanks for your help ..the conference is held right at the
    Prince Hotel. I've never been to Toronto (or Canada for
    that matter, except for a one day trip to Ottowa!), so
    any information is helpful.

    With the current transit strike paralyzing the city, a car is the only
    reliable means of getting around. The cab companies are making a
    killing and passengers are having to book over an hour in advance to
    get a cab. Welcome to Toronto!
