215.1No Canada JOBS BookPOLAR::MACDONALDTue Aug 08 1989 13:473
    DEC Canada does not post jobs as done in the U.S., i.e. in a JOBS
    book, nor are they on the network. The only postings that I am aware
    of are at the DEC Canada offices and buildings.
215.2Then what is the channel ??PRCSWS::FRANKLINLAUWed Aug 09 1989 02:346
    Re.1

    Thanks for the answer.

    So what is the proper channel if I would like to seek a job in DEC
    Canada say in Calgary DEC ??
215.3Develop contacts and work them!POLAR::MACDONALDWed Aug 09 1989 12:2417
    I don't know the answer but will make an effort to see if there
    is some simple and easy means of being made aware of openings in
    specific geographical areas.

    In the meantime, if your destination is Calgary, call the Calgary
    office(s) and ask to speak to Personnel and explain to them what
    your plans are. This may not get you a job, because as you
    know Personnel deal primarly with posted jobs, but it will establish
    a contact. There are frequently more jobs available than posted,
    so sticking with Personnel will not access the unposted jobs. From
    this contact you work other Departments heads on the phone, or visit.
    If you really lucky, you can find someone (maybe Personnel) who
    will send you the postings as they are posted.
    The bottom line is to find those contacts and keep in touch, preferrably
    in person.

    Go for it!

    Howdi,

    If you are serious about a job in Calgary (SWS) contact Craig Tullis @CGO
    he is the senior consultant there and should be able to point you in
    the right direction. I don't know the name of the SWS unit manager as
    she only join the Calgary Office recently.
