208.0. "Toronto vaca. w/Stones" by MEMORY::ROBBINS () Wed Jul 19 1989 18:12

    Hello,

    I'm interested in taking a trip to Toronto on Labor Day weekend,
    (August 31st - September 5).  I've been planning on taking a
    vacation there sometime this year, but it just happens that the
    Rolling Stones will be playing there on Sept. 3rd and I would love to
    include seeing the concert in my visit!!! I've called a number
    of ticket angencies in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and they
    are asking $75.00/ticket which is quite expensive. I'm
    hoping that someone might have some information on how I might
    obtain tickets through someone in Toronto or maybe be able to
    give me a telephone number that I could call for more information.
    I was told that you can not purchase tickets for the show by
    phone. Is this correct? Any sightseeing information or restaurant
    and lodging information would be appreciated as well!!

    Thanks!

    Ginger

208.1ALL SOLD OUT!!KAOFS::MCCANNWed Jul 19 1989 20:428
      The two Rolling Stones concerts in Toronto (Sept.3 & 4) both sold
    out within a day or so of going on sale. If you can get tickets
    where you are, you should get them if you want to go. The scalpers
    will probably be asking a lot if there are any at all.

    Wish I was going too.

    Thanks Dennis. I guess I have to think about whether or not I'm
    willing to spend $75.00 to see the Stones. The ticket agency that
    I called that said that they would be selling tickets for Toronto
    also told me that tickets had not yet gone on sale for the show yet.
    I wonder if they missed the boat?. Thanks again.

208.3HOW ABOUT MONTREAL???KAOFS::MCCANNFri Jul 21 1989 17:4710
    Ginger,
      A friend of mine told me that apparently there are still "bus
    packages" available from Ottawa for the Toronto shows. This includes
    a ticket to the show and return bus fare but I'm not sure of the
    cost. There's a very good possibility that they will be adding a
    concert to be held in Montreal at the Olympic Stadium. If I hear
    any more on this, I'll post it here so maybe you can go to that
    one.

208.4Montreal would be fun!MEMORY::ROBBINSMon Jul 24 1989 16:557
    Montreal!! One of my favorite places!!! I've been to Montreal twice
    now and would love to go back! I've heard that the Olympic Stadium
    is a great place to see a concert. Please, definitely keep me updated!
    In the meanwhile I'll have to check into those bus trips. Thanks
    for the info. again!

    Ginger,
      A friend just called and said that they're going to be adding
    another Toronto date at the end of the Stones tour. It is to be
    held at the Skydome on December 3rd. Good luck!!!

    I should have kept up in this file, but I didn't read the note until
    today. Oh well, I think I'm going to save my coins and go to the
    Foxboro show and try to get some good seats. The front row tickets are
    going for at least $100.00/seat. Thanks anyway!!

    I am going to see the Stones in Toronto on Labor Day weekend and
    I got my tickets in a package deal from Boston. Flight, hotel,
    ticket and transfers. The company I used is called Games Away Tours.
    I do not know if they have anything left but if you are still
    interested reply here and I will contact you with more info.

    Sorry I just found this note.
208.10stones in IMAX - 2/3 empty theatre!TROOA::CURZONRichard Curzon TRO4/24Thu Dec 19 1991 22:5618
   Stones: how many people have seen the Stones film at CineSphere?
   How many people heard of it? Ontario Place is spending zilch
   on advertising... there must be a story behind that, but ....

   It's fantastic super & unbelievable... the IMAX format will keep it
   away from your regular theatres, good thing too... it wouldn't have
   anywhere near the effect on a normal movie screen.

   It uses the screen and the surround sound to MAXIMUM effect -- in a word:
   don't-miss-it.

   2 guys I walked away from the theatre with said they saw the Stones
   live and this was MUCH better. They're going back to see it again
   and so am I...

    It's also playing at the Imax theatre here in Vancouver, has been for
    over two months. I haven't attended but my brother has. He rates it
    highly.

    He also mentioned that this film had only brief runs in major american
    cities such as L.A., N.Y., and S.F.  although I don't have an
    explanation.
