180.0. "Dial-in access at 2400bps, anyone?" by TROA02::DZIALOWSKI () Tue May 16 1989 11:30

    Was anyone successful (ever) connecting to the TROOA systems at
    2400bps (using the remote dial-in access procedure) ?
    If yes, how did you do it ?

180.4Please God give us 2400 bps dialup!!TROA01::MSCHNEIDERWhat me worry?Thu May 18 1989 04:0713
    It really is great to have this SCHOLAR Plus modem sitting here
    on my desktop capable of 2400 baud service ..... now if only we
    could get dial-in access at 2400 baud. Quite honestly we must be
    the last place in the world that doesn't offer dialup service at
    speeds greater than 1200 baud. Heck, some PC bulletin board systems
    offer 9600 baud dialup service! I used 2400 baud dialup at a local
    university with little or no data errors, so reliability of service
    is no excuse for not moving with the times.

    Anything that would help repaint my screen a little faster would
    be appreciated. MIS/Telecomm are you listening?

180.5this is not the way to solve thisFSCORE::RODERMONDThu May 18 1989 13:009
There seems to be no point in complaining about this issue in this conference.
It certainly is not a global issue, as various organizations within DEC canada
have 2400 dial-up access to their systems. So if you don't have it and really
need it, why not talk to your cost-centre manager? You need to follow
established procedures.

If you want action, you ain't gonna get it here is my bet.

180.62400 future release?TROA02::DZIALOWSKIThu May 18 1989 21:323
    The paper from MIS supplied with the phone # and access code mentionned
    access at 1200 or 2400. Are we doing something wrong or is 2400
    for future release ?

    re: .6 (Dialupowski)

    hmmm, now that you mention it, I do recall seeing the 2400 baud
    reference on the sheet from MIS.

    If God had meant us to have 2400 baud ... He wouldn't have given
    Scholars 2400/1200 fallback ...
