141.0. "Spending money in Toronto" by AKOV03::HAMEL (Ken Hamel) Wed Dec 07 1988 16:30

With Christmas quickly approaching (and most of my gifts yet to
be purchased) does anyone know of good shopping in Toronto? I'm
staying at the Hilton and would like to spend a couple evenings
(as time permits) to do some last minute stuff ..

An area with multiple specialized shops would be nice ...

    Thanks for your help.

The Eaton Center should fit the bill. Its at Dundas and Younge
not far from Queens Park. If you cann't find what you want there
    you aren't looking hard enough.

EATON CENTER
Just a big plaza, if that's what you want.
Take the subway to the Queen Street station.

QUEEN STREET WEST OF UNIVERSITY

If you have time for curio shopping, some
of these stores may not be open after 6 pm.

Try YORKVILLE (if price is no object for your loved ones).
Lots of nice, trendy specialty shops.

Take the Subway and get off at Bloor (since the Subway is shaped
like a horseshoe either way you go you will get there from the
Hilton). It's about a 10 minute ride. Get out then ask for directions
to Yorkville (about a 3 minute walk depending where you get off)

Spadina road is always good for great deals on anything. From where
you are staying walk west or take public transport for about 1m.
Get off at Spadina road. There are no malls so dress warmly.
