69.0. "The Winner Of The Next Federal Election" by KAOM25::RICHARDSON (He who laughs best) Tue May 10 1988 20:25

    	I can't think of a better topic to get people going than
    politics! I somehow doubt that there will be a fall of '88
    election but if there is, who will you vote for?? Will you
    vote your pal and mine, Brian "Free Trade" Mulroney...or will
    you vote for John "leader of the Contradiction" Turner.....or
    Ed "The Whining Baby" Broadbent.

    	Who's going to be the next Prime Minister? What will the
    ramifications be? Who would vote for Oliver North if it were
    possible? Who cares????

    	I'll tell you one thing, I can't vote for a man who clears
    his throat every ten seconds..................

69.3minority rules!KAOA08::SEEDWed May 18 1988 21:0214
    Probably the best type of government under the parliamentary system
    is either minority or coalition. The trouble is, they have a habit
    of not being in power very long!!

    Certainly Ontario under the LIB/NDP coalition was far superior to
    the previous tory stranglehold, and beats our current "SOCIALSPEND"
    PETERSEN... definite Trudeau undertones: force your opinion down
    everyone's throats, and give them the onefingered salute when they're
    not looking.

    No, landslide majorities are not for this country, the abuses are
    just too scary.

69.4Less Than A Week To Go!!KAOM25::RICHARDSONHe who laughs bestTue Nov 15 1988 14:599
    My prediction is a "slim" Conservative Majority. The PC's will take
    the lion's share of seats in Quebec but will lose a lot in Ontario.
    The western provinces should stay about the same as will the Atlantic
    provinces.

    I for one do not want to see a minority government because I couldn't
    take two elections in one year!!!!!

    ... a large PC majority, tho' NOT a landslide. A clear vote for
    Free Trade ( now that people are beginning to see through the anti-FT
    hype )

    Wishful thinking. I can see the Tories holding most of their Quebec
    seat, but losing some in Ontario and the East. But recent polls have
    shown a surge for the Tories, and I hope you are right. My concern is
    that the Tories haven't sold this deal the way it should have been
    sold.

69.7No Faith In Liberal PartyKAOM25::RICHARDSONHe who laughs bestMon Nov 21 1988 17:517
    	It seems that nobody believes the Liberals will win this election!
    I haven't heard anyone predicting a Liberal win, even MY Liberal
    buddies aren't going that far. They seem to believe that the PC's
    are going to win. 148 is the magic number. Hang on to your 'seats'
    folks, it's going to close!!!!!
