49.0. "Query: Montreal sightseeing and accomodations" by CLOSET::WEISENFELD () Wed Feb 10 1988 12:18

I'll be travelling to Montreal at the end of April and am looking
for various bits of information...if you can provide any pointers
or advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

    1. We will be taking Amtrack from Albany to Montreal...where is
the train station in Montreal, and can we get the metro from there?

    2. We're looking for a nice Bed and Breakfast inn; reasonably
priced and somewhat near a metro stop, since we will not have
a car. Do you have any to recommend? Has anyone ever heard
of a place called la Conciergerie Guest House at 1910, rue
Saint-Hubert? Is it a nice place, and where is it located in
       relation to downtown Montreal?

    3. Are there any special events (cultural or otherwise) taking place
       the last weekend in April?

    4. What are some of the things that people who are interested in
museums, culture, music, ballet, sports, shopping, history, and
general sightseeing should make sure to see (we'll be visiting
       Montreal for five days)?

    5. Is there anything else that I should know about Montreal?

Thanks to any of you who can assist in providing this information
for me...I'm looking forward to a smashing long weekend and will
be happy to report back on our findings!

    Cheers,
    Marian

There is an outfit called the "Downtown B&B referral service" or something
like that. I am looking for a B&B too (see next note). I called the Greater
Montreal Visitors & Convention Bureau and they gave me a list of numbers to
call. I called the B&B referral service and they said they would send me a
flyer.

I saw this in a travel guide and I was interested. I got out my map and found\
Rue St. Hubert in the index but couldn't find it on the map. Does anyone know
what major streets this place is near? All I know is it's considerably west or
southwest of downtown.

I was wrong about the Conciergerie; what I saw in the travel guide was an-
other hotel on Rue Ste.-Hubert.
The phone # of the Greater Montreal Convention & Tourism Bureau is
514-871-1129. I called them today and asked them to send me a street and transit
map. They said they would; I don't know how good they will be.
Downtown Bed & Breakfast Network: 514-289-9749. They are sending me a flyer.
  I haven't tried these numbers: Mt. Royal B&B: 514-484-7802
At-Home something or other; I assume this is a referral service: 514-486-6910
