Can someone in NB post some results of the Chess Festival going on in St.Johns ? There doesn't seem to be too many results leaking from the Press. Thanks in advance, Pierre Coupal South Pacific Region

We only have a couple of New Brunswick offices, and with very few people. I'll try to keep you up to date as best I can. And the city is Saint John, N.B. St.John's is in another province, Newfoundland.

And while the interest level is still high... Canadian Ken Spraggett beat the Soviet (not sure of his name) in "sudden-death" style play. After many draws, this was the only way the contest organisers could think of to decide a winner.
46.3 | Tal takes the blitz title | KAOA01::GLOBRIEN | Glenn A. O'Brien @TRC | Tue Feb 23 1988 00:55 | 3 |
Mikael Tal (sp?) of the Soviet Union won the blitz chess tournament (10 minutes per game). Kasparov, the early favourite, was beaten by a Bulgarian player (Georgiev, I believe). |
