1308.0. "X25 Relay, LLC2 and SNA Peer Server as a client?" by LATINA::MONJE (MCS Madrid) Fri May 16 1997 16:13

        *** Cross-posted at SNAGWY Conference ****

Sorry if there is no reference here about brouters-90 but there
are some similar elements in my the configuration.

I have been checking my configuration on SNAGWY conference, X25_OSF
conference and CISCO conference but I don't find anything clear.
The only reference similar to the configuration I need to put
on work is in this conference (NETCAD::DEWBR).

	Here is:

We have a project to integrate FUJITSU Systems and our DEC SNA
    	Peer Server.

Now the Customer has a configuration with FUJITSUs and CISCO routers
that we would like to change towards our DEC SNA Peer Server.

Customer has actually the next configuration:

		+-----------+
		| |
		| | H O S T
		| | Fujitsu Model M
		| |

We want to change the Fujitsu Model K and put a DEC SNA Peer
	Server instead.

I am not sure which is the correct configuration we need to
implement with the Peer Server. We want the Peer Server do the same
job that Fujitsu Model K did before.

The idea is to put the DEC SNA Peer Server into the LAN and
get a communication with the CISCO router in the same LAN. Then next
objetive is that the CISCO will route the "Peer Server SNA packets"
to the host (Fujitsu Model M).

	Our configuration:

		+-----------+
		| |
		| | H O S T
		| | Fujitsu Model M
		| |
		| |
		+-----#-----+
		      : SNA protocols
		      : X.25 connection/QLLC connection
		      :
		  +---#---+
		  | | CISCO ROUTER
		  +---#---+ 4000
		TCP/IP:
		      :
		       :
			:
	    	    +---#---+
		    | | CISCO 4000
	    	    +---+---+
		TCP/IP	|
			|
	+--------+------+----------------+----------+----------+---------+
		 | TCP/IP | | |
	    +----+----+ +--+--+ +--+--+ +--+--+
	    | | | | | | | |
	    | | | | | | | |
	    | | +--+--+ +--+--+ +--+--+
	    | | PC-2 PC-3 PC-4
	    +---------+ Windows Windows Windows
Peer Server TE 3270 TE 3270 TE 3270
	   (acting as PU 2.0)

I am not sure how to get the new configuration working on.

Which components and additional components (DECnet/OSI, WAN Support
for Digital UNIX, DEC SNA Peer Server...) we need to install and
	configure ? I imagine LLC2 support.

How can we do the communication between the CISCO and the DEC
	SNA Peer Server ?
X.25/LLC2 connection (DTE-DTE X.25 LAN conenction) and configure
the CISCO as a X.25 Relay? Can we do it?

I don't know how we can route the SNA packets between the SNA Peer
Server and the Fujitsu Model M through the CISCOs. Do we need to
configure something specific at the CISCOs ? Some topics in this
conference talked about CMNS at Brouter level configuration
    	or something similar...

    	Any inputs please...

	Help would be best appreciated.

	Thanks and Regards,

	Antonio Monje

1308.1LLC2 with CISCO and WAN Supp. for Dunix works!LATINA::MONJEMCS MadridThu May 22 1997 14:5323
    Hi,

I've got the LLC2 connection between the WAN Services for Digital
Unix v3.0 and the CISCO router ...

    I have an Alpha 3000 with Digital Unix 4.0a. I've installed DECnet/OSI
4.0a, WAN Services for Digital Unix v3.0 and DEC SNA Peer Services for
    Digital Unix v1.4.

I've defined a X25/LLC2 connection (X.25 Relay) from the Alpha to the
    CISCO and it works fine.

It needs to enable CMNS at the CISCO router and mapping via CMNS the
Alpha NSAP to its MAC Address, and it works.

Next step, I need the Peer Server sent the QLLC/x.25 packets over the
LLC2, the CISCO forwarded them and they arrived to the Fujitsu and
go back with the response... Mmmnh! I think some difficult. But this is
    another story.

    Regards,

    Antonio M:-)
