1297.0. "Interoperability w/Routeabout" by ACISS1::ELARSON () Tue Apr 15 1997 19:29

    Can the RouteAbout ES interoperate with the DECbrouter 90t2?

    If so is it via RIP, OSPF?

    Thank you in advance.

1297.2config reqeusted...ACISS1::ELARSONWed Apr 16 1997 13:5712
    Thanks for the answer Neil.

    The customer will be running IP, DECnet, IPX in a hub and spoke config.
    Currently two DB90's are just passing DECnet traffic. A VAR sold them
    the Routeabout's to incorporate into the WAN.

    The lines will be point to point 56kbs from Chicago to the remotes. So
    all we need to do is change the current HDLC encapsulation on the
    DB90T's to PPP encapsulation and away we go? A sample config would be
    great. Either post here or send to me: larsone@mail.dec.com

    Thanks for your help.  /ed
1297.3Yes to RIP no to OSPF ... although....FOUNDR::SHEEHANWed Apr 16 1997 14:0319

    No problem with RIP! ES doesn't support OSPF Although you could
    import RIP routes to OSPF on the DECbrouter end. You also must
    set the Serial Interface Encapsulation to PPP on the DECbrouter.
    Let me know if you need any config examples.
