| Hi Joe,
>Where can we get V11 internally? My customer already has it. Part

Chuck has been assimilated by the Borg... Resistance is
futile..
Actually, I haven't been working with the DECbrouters at all for
tha last 6 months or so, since I moved to IP Switching (The
Ipsilon/ATM/IFMP stuff). Neil Sheehan is the DECbrouter person- I'll
see what I can find out about 11.x, though, as it should have been out
by now- I'll post what I can find out here...
take care,
-Chuck

| Hi,
The DECbrouter version 11.1(6) kit is available from SSB
using the following part number for $275.00
QA-115AG-HC DECbrouter 90 V11.1(6) Software &
Documentaton
The 11.1(6) kit is available for customers with a valid
Software Support Contract thru normal channels or for a
specific fix to a known bug in 10.3 where there is no
workaround by contacting the "Temporary Product Manager"
Mike Cinnamon netcad::cinnamon Dtn. 226-6722.
This kit at the present time will not be made available on
foundr to anyone unless a request is made to Mike and he
authorizes it.

Neil Sheehan

| Joe,
I just checked with Neil, and here's the scoop:
Based on the lack of *software support* contract sales for the
DECbrouter (something like only 5%, last I heard), a decision was made
to limit customer distribution of 11.x DECbrouter kits to the formal
SSB channels (the SSB was given 11.1(6) in January). Though 11.x is
certainly available for internal use, it was decided that having the
software publicly accessible on FOUNDR (as previous kits were) would make
it too easy for field people to unknowingly pass it out to any customers
who requested it, wether or not they had software support.
So; If you want a internal kit to load & play with, drop Neil an
E-mail at FOUNDR::SHEEHAN, and he can set you up... And, if by chance,
you have a customer with a bug that will be fixed in 11.1, but not in
10.3, please open an IPMT case to obtain 11.1 for the customer. But
please, please, don't send him (or me, for that matter) any FLAMES
regarding the above policy (I know you wouldn't flame me, Joe, but others
reading this may have more volatile reactions... :^)- The current (acting)
product manager is Mike (NETCAD::) Cinnamon, though I just tried calling
him to verify the above, and his voice-mail indicates he's out until March
17th.
Neil also indicated that he will check with the SSB to make sure the
kit is now orderable & shippable, and he will update the appropriate note
(6?) with the details....
Regards,
-Chuck O.
