    Customer want to use DECserver 700 and DECserver 90M to connect two
    Ethernets without Router. I hope get following information:
    1. Does this solution is OK?
    2. If yes, is there any difference between using DECserver and Router?
    Any further information and help is welcome.

    Thanks in advance
    Michael

3535.1Works for IP, with static routing...IROCZ::D_NELSONDave Nelson LKG1-3/A11 226-5358Mon May 19 1997 15:2015
RE: .0

This is a supported configuration, called the "back-to-back" DECserver
configuration. It works with PPP or SLIP to provide IP connectivty among
the three LANs. The caveat is that _all_ the nodes that wish to communicate
must have static routes entered in their routing databases. The DECservers
do not participate in RIP or any other routing update protocols.

Information on the DECserver setup is in the Management Guide, as as in
a few notes elsewhere in this conference.

Dave
