831.0. "Mibs implemented on VNs ?" by PRSSOS::PEYRACHE (Jean-Yves Peyrache Country Support Group France) Thu Apr 03 1997 06:12

       hello

which mibs are supported in VN familly in V1.5 ?
furthermore i try to see the traffic on ethernet, fddi,FE or ATM
on Vns using Router Manager interface utilisation windows if
the "Ifspeed" seems correct , i can't show any traffic (always =0)

      thanks

Unfortunately, the current VNswitch hardware is not able to
accumulate byte counters for traffic. This means that the router
manager utilization will always show as zero. The system does
support packet counters so you can tell if there is any traffic -
you just can't tell how much of an interface is being utilized.

Also, the release notes contain a complete list of the MIBS supported by that
version of the firmware.

    thanks for your comments

will you want to add theses counters in future versions
or is really hardware dependent ?

They really require hardware support - we do have plans for
a modified Ethernet daughter card that will support byte counters.

      Bad news,

just for my personal mind , how can customers see traffic
on VNs ports now , without plugging an analyseur or Rmon Probe

What do you mean by "see traffic"? See the actual packets and their contents?
Or see the traffic utilization of a port?

see the utilization of a port % of charge on ports
