815.0. "LAT prioritization (BRS)" by NETRIX::"empeigne@mail.dec.com" (Jean-Yves) Wed Mar 26 1997 03:36

I have a customer with the requirement to prioritize LAT traffic on the
RouteAbout (DRS v2.0).

It seems that BRS can be applied globally to ASRT (i.e all bridged traffic),
is it
possible to give higher priority to LATover other bridged protocols (ex.
Netbeui,
MOP, etc..) within ASRT.

Has any run in similar situation ?

Thanx,

Jean-Yves.
Sydney, OZ.

I believe it is possible to tag up to 5 MAC addresses and then assign the tags
to BRS. You could use the source or destination address of the Terminal
Servers.
So one question would be do you have more than 5 Terminal Servers at both
ends?
Maybe one of the routeabout engineers could verify this.

815.2Assigning LAT priority from within BRSMARVIN::GARVEYThu Apr 10 1997 09:1717
Hi Jean-Yves,

Yes, I agree with what was suggested in the previous reply!

The BRS code is unable to distinguish any particular protocol
(i.e. LAT) within bridged traffic. The only way I am aware of to
proiritise bridged traffic is to use the MAC filtering facility.
However this will assign the higher priority to all bridged
traffic to and from the specified MAC address (i.e. the terminal
server).

Configure MAC filtering with a 'filter list' which contains two
filters (i.e.type source and destinaton for the TS MAC address),
and assign a TAG to this filter list. From within BRS, you can
then assign this tag a priority within a particular class.
