791.0. "maximum information rate on frame relay" by COPCLU::JENS () Tue Mar 11 1997 06:08

	Hi !

I have a question regarding regarding routeabout and frame relay.

You can have a commitred information rate in rate in bits per second.
But can you also have a maximum speed rate setup in the routeabout
	and if how ?

The customer have their own frame-relay network.

	Best regards and thanks
	in advance for input.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "maximum speed rate setup".

By default the RouteAbout will try to steadily increase the transmission speed
on a PVC upto line rate if it does not receive any congestion notification from
the network (BECN). But for obvious reasons it will never go higher that line
rate. However you must configure the line rate using the SET LINE-SPEED command,
so I suppose if you wanted to artificially restricted the maximum transmission
speed of ALL PVC's then you could set this rate to be lower than the actual line
rate.

The RouteAbout does have a second mode of operation called CIR Monitoring. This
mode causes the transmission speed on a PVC to always stay within the configured
CIR for each PVC. Is that what you are looking for?
