755.0. "VNSWITCH-EA and UTP MODULAR card?" by SOS6::HOFFMANN (HOFFMANN Lionel/loc=evt/DTN number=858 5647) Wed Feb 12 1997 16:31
Hello,
I have installed a GIGASWITCH/ATM version 2.0 connected to a
VNSWITCH-EA version 1.0-106 and got some problems.
I could make the link up (Optical fiber MMF)and LANE working between
the VNSWITCH and the GIGASWITCH using optical line card but:
1)The version of the VNSWITCH-EA is 1.0-106 and I couldn't setup
anything.Everything comes up automatically between both devices (Just
the Gigaswitch to set up) ...Happily for me.....but in case of problems
how can I do?
Is there any new Firmware I could get for upgrading the VNSWITCH ?
Any pointer?
2)As a beginning, the link between the GIGASWITCH and the VNSWITCH-EA
is an optical MMF link based on PMDs whose part number is DAGGM-AA.
It seems that all the different types of PMD used on the gigaswitch
line cards are the same that these that are used for VNSWITCH:
For example :DAGGM-AA can be used in VNSWITCH
But the final configuration must be UTP pmd's
SO is it possible to use the MODULAR UTP card DAGGU-AA into the
VNSWITCH? Or is it necessary to upgrade it or is it ok with version
1.0-106?
Any help appreciated
Lionel
