743.0. "VNswitch firmware upgrade problem" by IROCZ::STETSON () Thu Feb 06 1997 12:28

This didn't make it into the VNswitch v1.1A release notes:

Note that it is not possible to upgrade a VNswitch EE/EF/EX from v1.0 to v1.1A
using the "LOAD REMOTE" command when the module is in the hub and you are
accessing the console via the hub re-direct option. This is due to a current
incompatibility with the MAM pre-v5.0 firmware console wherein characters are
replicated following <CR>. Since LOAD REMOTE is a prompting dialog, this
duplicate input problem will mess up your console sequence. As a workaround you
should avoid LOAD REMOTE via the hub console and either:

	- do the upgrade from a telnet session
	- use RELOAD command with a pre-configured load server/file location

This problem will disappear with MAM V5.0.

743.1Did it with T5.0.XX MAM code....NETCAD::BATTERSBYThu Feb 06 1997 13:028
    That's odd, I was able to do this earlier this week running either
    MAM T5.0.30 or T5.0.32 code.
    I had three EE's in a hub, re-directed to each and upgraded each
    from an in-band front port. Are the T5.0.XX considered pre-v5.0.
    If the T5.0.XX aren't considered pre-v5.0, then ignore my ramblings. :-)

743.2T5.X.X should be okIROCZ::STETSONFri Feb 07 1997 16:335
Sorry I wasn't clear. I should have probably said V4.2 or earlier. The fix
needed in the MAM for console redirect came in quite early with the T5.x.x code.
