Hi, We are planning to upgrade CPU's on AS8400 with Digital Unix v3.2d-1 to 440 MHz. I just want to learn minumum unix version for 440 MHz. CPU. Because there is a conflict between Systems and Options Catalog that says v3.2g and http://healey.zk3.dec.com/hw_query that says v3.2b. Which one is correct? Thanks for any help, Umit [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

The qualification of the actual hardware was done with V3.2G and V4.0B. This is why the Systems and Option Catalog states V3.2G. Digital UNIX will support the 440 MHZ Cpu's on the AS8400 System running V3.2D. The hardware qualification could only be done on two versions of Digital UNIX these being V3.2G (the lastest shipping V3.2 base) and V4.0B ( the latest shipping V4.0 base). V3.2G is a maintenance Release Version of UNIX that has "bug" fixes included whereas V3.2D-1 requires patching. If you require V3.2D-1 for a specific application then you should make a request to have V3.2D-1 qual'd. Regards, Rich Freiss UNIX Hardware Support Engineering [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] | |||||

Hi, Thanks for your quick response. I have one more question. Should I deinstall v3.2d-1 patches that we applied before v3.2g upgrade.I remember a blitz mail about unix upgrade that recommend to remove the patches before upgrade.I'd like to be sure if this is just a recommendation or an obligation. Thanks, Umit [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] |
