There are two DE500-AA interface adapters installed on the AlphaServer
1000A. The system is running Digital UNIX v4.0.
After configuring the network, the system could not communicate to other
machines via the adapters. We have tried to replace the adapter to
DE500-XA. after that, the problem was gone.
Referring to the note#6533, we have a patch (Patch ID: OSF375-048) for
a bug in the DECchip 21140A device in the DE500-AA on DU v3.2G.
Is there a same patch for the Digital UNIX v4.0 or above ? If no, how
to fix the problem ?

By the way, DE500-AA support went into V4.0A (that's why it didn't work
on V4.0).

Ok, so I still can't find a patch for 4.0 to make the de500-aa work.
I don't want to make the customer have to install 4.0a in HOPES that
it will work when he already just went thru an upgrade from 3.2f to 4.0
cause the SPD said it was supported...
Is there a patch?
Or should he go to 4.0a and it SHOULD work with no patch?

You won't find a patch for the DE500-AA on V4.0. The DE500-AA was not
supported on V4.0.
If you check the SPD for V4.0, you should note that the DE500-AA is not
listed.
You need V4.0A or V4.0B...
DE500-XA, on the other hand, should work fine on V4.0.
