1506.0. "Help needed finding info on Sapphires" by HANNAH::BOUCHERJ () Tue Jul 23 1991 13:50

I'm trying to find some info on Sapphires. A friend of mine Deb
Wolbach used to note here and she sent me some info from this file
about 2 years ago. It was a paragraph about the qualities of
    Sapphires.

    thanks

Try the following from the notes prompt.

    Notes> Search "sapphire"

This will search the entire file until a note containing the word
sapphire is found. Should this not be the note you require then just
type the word search and it will move on to the next note containing
    the target word.

"Sapphires" are light-to-deep blue corundums similar to rubies. However, in
ancient times, what was called "sapphire" is what we now know as Lapis Lazuli.
Thus, some confusion.

Sapphires (in the modern sense) have several traditions. One is that they
represent chaste (or 'pure") love. Another is that when someone inherently
bad wears one, it loses its luster. A third is that it's a "protective"
stone. Esoterically, it's linked to the planets Jupiter and Saturn (odd
admixture, that); astrologically, it's associasted with Sagitaruis. Its
jovian aspect reinforces some tales that it can be used in healing situations.

Thanks Jamie, I kept repeating search "sapphire" and just getting one
    note (69.34).

    re .2 Thanks Steve!

Also, a simple DIR/TITLE=GEM revealed a possible note in 341
and 341.25 looks like what you're looking for.

You should type search "sapphire" only the first time. After that, just type
search. Otherwise the search starts over from the beginning.

    re .4 John I checked/used Keywords yesterday and found 341.25 - thanks
    for the pointer though!

If memory serves it was a fairly good sized paragraph and I haven't
    come across it yet...

In my searching I keep coming up with messages about notes being hidden
(i.e. 304.41, 337.43, 445.56, etc) does this mean they contain
reference to sapphires or is it just saying they're set hidden???

re. 5 (sorry I forgot your name) I'd checked help and couldn't figure
out what the heck I was doing wrong, until I read Jamie's reply.
    Thanks

The latter. Its basically telling you that it couldn't check to see
if the search string was there because the note was hidden.
