1159.0. "What Does The POPE Know???" by SONATA::ARDINI () Thu Oct 26 1989 10:46

    	What does the pope know? I have always wondered what the Pope is
    priveledge to know. Some people say He knows about information from
    Fatima. And maybe info passed down amoung the Popes like 'Nostradamus'
    type info. Can anyone share what they know about this.

    You might get more information by asking this in the AITG::RELIGION
    notefile. Hit KP7 to add AITG::RELIGION to your notebook.

1159.2Not a Religious question!SONATA::ARDINIThu Oct 26 1989 12:529
    	I do not want to get any religious opinion or lines drawn from the
    Bible to "real" life. I want some opinion or insight to the mystery of
    what the pope knows not hype on whether or not we should be privy to
    the same info. Over the years, reading this notesfile, I have read
    some tremendous feedback on questions like this from Steve K. and
    Topher and others. So I am just interested to pick their brains a bit
    on this subject.

1159.3Yes, what does he know?... AOXOA::STANLEYYou can't let go, you can't hold on...Thu Oct 26 1989 13:1811
It was interesting to see this note this morning. On the front page of the
Worcester Telegram and Gazette was a photo of a man punching Senator John Glenn
in the jaw (bear with me). He was mumbling something like "the earth quakes are
starting" beforehand. After they arrested him, he said that he did it for
attention and then mention the Pope's knowing something that he hadn't told.
Earlier this week the same man approached Dan Quayle's motorcade with a note but
was stopped before he reached it. They didn't say what the note said.

Very strange.

    Hi George,

    What many of us typically do is post the same question to different
    semi-related notes conferences to see what everybody has to say from as
    many different viewpoints as possible. To post in this way can only
    broaden your own perspective. No doubt you'll probably get a few
    'religious oriented' responses (you might even get them here in this
    conference), however if you look past the religion stuff, you might
    actually find some of your answer in such responses nonetheless.

    In other words, it can't hurt, and there is the <next unseen> key if
    you aren't interested in participating any further in the discussion.
    The RELIGION conference is actually a good mix of all different
    religions, fundamentalists and mystics and even atheism and
    agnosticism, as opposed to CHRISTIAN which is primarily literal Bible
    believers and fundamentalist-oriented.

    From what I remember.....

    During the visions of Mary at Fatima and at Yugoslavia, the children
    who witnessed the visitations were told by Mary an assortment of things
    about signs of the end of the Earth and what man needed to do. The
    children were told to tell high officials within the Catholic church
    what was said, and the times that each idea was to be conveyed to the
    public to be announced by the Pope. There was suppose to be a big
    announcement back in 1969, and several times during the 70's and 80's,
    but the Pope and the High Officials of the church have withheld the
    information. A lot of people are very upset over this, especially with
    all of the disasters that have happened in 1988 and 1989 (which were,
    by the way, "Years of Terror" according to Nostrodamus...).

    The 'secrets' from Medjugorie were never released either.

    Sometimes I consider that prophesy that seems terrible to a Pope
    might not seem so terrible to the common man (such as a prophesy
    regarding the destruction of organized religions for example).

    The children at Fatima were given a sealed envelope, not to be
    opened until a specified time. The envelope was opened by Pope
    Paul VI but he, and the subsequent popes felt that the world was not
    ready to hear what was contained in the letter .
    FWIW
    	One of the things that The Blessed Mother "predicted" was the
    conversion of Russia. I.E. From Communism back to Christianity-
    Perestroika and Glasnost are making this seem, if not likely,
    at least remotely possible.
1159.8WMOIS::REINKEHello, I'm the Dr!Wed Nov 01 1989 14:447
    There's a book called "The Fatima Prophesies" that purports to tell
    what's in the sealed envelope. It's published by the Association for
    the Understanding of Man, in (I think) Arizona. If you want a copy, I
    think I can get you one for about $10.00. I found it fascinating, but
    you'll have to judge for yourself its veracity.

    The messages received by the children in Medjugorje have been and are
    being 'revealed' on a regular basis, according to the visionaries
    themselves, the youngest of whom is now about 16.

    The official viewpoint of the Vatican has been more of a 'wait-and-see'
    attitude regarding the validity of the messages, a small number of which
    have been actual global prophecies.

    I have more information on Medjugorje and the visitations at home, and
    can enter more substantive information if it seems worthwhile, or can
    answer questions by mail.
