Conference hydra::dejavu

    	Kristen, I've had something very similar happen to me.
    
    	I was participating in a group meditation, and a girl I used to 
    	be close to and I were holding hands.  We could both feel each 
    	other's energy in our hands, flowing up our respective arms and 
    	circulating everywhere within our Selves.  Very connective.
    
    	We let go of each other's hands and came out of our meditations
    	while everyone else continued inwards.  Without telling me what
    	she was going to do, she wrote something down.  She whispered I
    	I should think of a word.  A word, bright as can be, blasted in
    	my brain but I dismissed it, "No No, now let me concentrate for 
    	a moment!"
    
    	After a minute or two I couldn't help but write down that first
    	word I'd thought of, which was SUNSHINE.  She turned this piece
    	of paper over to reveal that the word she had written was also
    	SUNSHINE.  There was no rhyme nor reason nor secret reason why
    	either of us chose this word, it apparently was random on both
    	our parts.

    I live in Maine.  I have been to a few bookstores in the area, but
    have found nothing interesting.  I will be going home to RI for
    Christmas though and will be driving right through Boston if you
    have some suggestions.
    
    Also maybe I should mention that besides guessing numbers, sometimes
    I see things.  Just the other morning I was very hungry.  And I
    was thinking about going to the caf after the meeting I was in.
    As I thought about the caf, I could vision cherry pie filling. 
    It was the strangest thing, especially since I don't even like the
    stuff.  Anyway, I went to the caf, and their specialty of the morning
    was this pastry with cherry pie filling.  They never make the stuff.
    It struck me as strange.
    
    Also there have been a couple of times when I've thought of home
    that I have smelled things very strongly.  Both times food.  I would
    then call home and ask my Mom for her recipe since the shrimp smelled
    so good.  I would freak her out, since both times, she was in the
    process of making what I had asked about.
    
    But alas it only seems to work with family.  And I really can't
    control it, as of yet.

         I had a similar experience with my ex-girlfriend when we tried
    such an experiment just out of the blue. The idea was very simple;
    one of us would think of and then draw a picture of something and
    the other would therefore try to 'feel' or sense what the image
    was and to draw the same thing. Well as it turned out we were actually
    pretty near the mark each time (I think we tried it 4 times). For
    example, in one case she drew a house, from a viewpoint as if looking
    at it from outside with the little picture windows and all. The
    picture that I drew in response, when trying to intuit her image
    was just a picture window--it was as though I had drawn a partial
    image close-up of the same side of that same house that she had
    drawn. In another example, I drew an umbrella and she in response
    drew a wineglass. When we compared those 2 images it was exactly
    as though she had simply drawn an inverted picture of my umbrella.
    The other 2 examples I do not recall but I remember that the results
    were similar.
         These results were not really any surprise to either of us
    because we both sort of knew that we were often very in-tune with
    each others thoughts. My own theory is that all living creatures
    share this characteristic. We humans seem to manifest it in varying
    degrees--some people have it down better than others. I experience
    it constantly nowadays when I am with someone that I am close to.
    It just seems like I can feel what they are thinking sometimes with
    incredible sharpness, and I will in some cases try to send back
    some thoughts in return. Really this is an amazing process and I
    think everyone should, if for no other reason than the thrill of
    it (it's so much fun sometimes), definitely explore this. How many
    other of you dejavuers had had these same experiences?

    If you can locate either a health-food store or a newage bookstore,
    they usually have a supply of Earth Star newspapers.  It's free
    and does have a lot of good references for classes, and I believe
    they have listings for Maine as well as MA, NH, VT.

    These things happen to me quite frequently if I am in sync.  If
    I concentrate or try to make them happen they do not.  These
    happenings never fail to bring a smile to my face and a feeling of content-
    ment that I am in the right place at the right time.  There is one
    person in particular with whom I seem to be "connected" and have
    very strong flashes of emotion from, sometimes what he's doing
    flashes into my head like a TV picture when I think of him.

I also believe we all share this. I have it with some of my family, but with
others as well. Not so strong: sometimes I confuse someone with a very odd
question; at the end it appeared to be one of the others that I am sensitive to.
:-) 

But how to address the basic question: how to control it? I experience the same
as mentioned in the previous reply: as soon as you "try hard", it fails. Let it
go, and it happens. It can be guided, though. I know I can "tune in" to several
people at will, but not at all times. Trust and acceptance are the words that
come to my mind now. If it doesn't happen, it's OK. If it does happen, accept it
gladly, and enjoy it.

    I agree with .7 in that if I try to "send" a message to someone
    out of the blue it usually won't work. I also think that it only
    works with people we are very close to. Last friday I was home sick
    and being real bored so I decided to make my friend John call me.
    I felt at the time that I knew it would happen - there was no doubt
    in my mind. I concentrated on him giving me a call and about 30
    seconds later he called! When I told him what I was up to he said
    I was "wacko". I can't seem to control when I do this but it's fun
    when it happens!

W.E. Butler's book on Reading the Aura, Practicing Pssychometry, 
Telepathy, etc. is a good source to learn more about this kind of 
stuff. There's several editions from different publishers.

At Arsenic and Old Lace, probably Seven Stars, both in Cambridge.

    Ive had similar experiences like this....
    
    I dontknow when it comes to me...but it happens with people whom Im
    close to - well no - thats not strictly true - people whom Im also NOT
    so lcose too...but I get this strange kind of feeling all through my
    body - its really strange - that this person is thinking about me - it
    just hits me for no reason - then that starts me off thinking about
    them - then they either call or I end up bumping into them
    somewhere....
