1402.0. "<Sense of URGENCY>" by CSOA1::CROUCH () Wed Dec 19 1990 19:53

A quick search of the entries in DEJAVU didn't reveal a note on
something that has been motivating (and nagging) me since the beginning of my
"awakening" (for want of a better term). This feeling has been very strong
at times and fainter at others, but always present. It is a feeling of
URGENCY; a feeling that I must prepare myself for *something* - what that
something is has not been made totally known to me yet.

I have talked to others "on the Path" about this and most also have
this feeling to varying degrees. Many share common beliefs about what this
urgency centers around. Myself, I have definite feelings about the focus but
I don't want to set this note on a narrow course of thought by bringing it up
right away. I would like to find out 1) do you have this sense of urgency
and 2) what do you think the focus of it is? I am interested in exploring
alternate possibilities as well as some of the most obvious. The reason for
this is that the *obvious* may have be brought to consciousness, not from
some inner voice, but rather from the general "belief" that these things
will come to pass. Popular opinion doesn't necessarily prove true. Many
people thought that terrible things would happen when the earth passed
through the tail of Halley's Comet early this century. This obviously didn't
happen.

Let's discuss what's really behind the feeling without outside
influences, if possible, and see where this leads...

I have been feeling a strong sense of urgency since the beginning of
the year. It's still there but I haven't really got a clue what it's
all about. Life does seem to be changing at the speed of light these
days, though. Don't know if this helps or confuses.

re: .0 "what's really behind the feeling"

   1. we're all getting older and closer to death
   2. the old familiar political climate is changing, giving us:
		... unexpected opportunities for peace
		... unexpected threat of war
... alliances shifting rapidly (is our enemy today Eastasia
			or Eurasia?)
   3. end of the century is near, end of the millenium is near
   4. real environmental problems continue to be refractory to solution:
		... atmospheric pollution
		... water pollution
... continued reliance on non-renewable energy sources
		... threat to the rainforests
   5. lots of doom-sayers, millenarians and survivalists predicting apocalypse
   6. imminent "paradigm shift" in the works (sorry, Topher;-)):
... fundamentalist religion invalidated by science
... science unable to reconcile itself to human social needs
... humanism unable to arrive at practical political solutions
... prediction: the division of science, philosophy, religion
and sociology WILL be resolved overwhelmingly in favor
of a new model within the next 2-3 generations (so, be
			there or be square!;-))

But besides that, it could be an inner knowing that *this*
opportunity is one of the most incredible, if not the most incredible,
ever to face humanity, and that you have a chance to be a source
for the changes. I could *guess* and say that your Higher Self is
prodding you and saying "come on, Larry, you can do it...you can
do it THIS lifetime...so many lifetimes you haven't...this is
exciting to me, do it, please do it!" (or something along these
    lines.)

I have gotten this sense of urgency at various times, but nothing ever seems to
occur to match with them. I have learned that there are two variations on this
for me: one is strictly physical response - tense, alert, the other includes
the physical response, but also has a psychic response - my shields go up, and
I gather energy without conscious thought.

The first instance can easily be attributed to the things mentioned in .2, along
with any other personal situation I might be in at the time. The second,
however, is strictly in response to something psychic, although what I have
never figured out. The best I can guess, in my case, is that I am automatically
responding to an attack of some kind (you have to remember that early in my
awakening, I was almost continually attacked, and hence developed some damned
quick, although perhaps simplistic, defensive responses). In these cases, I can
never seem to pinpoint a cause or source, and so I wonder if they are valid
responses.

.0, does your sense of urgency affect only your physical responses?

I think that's definitely a part of what I feel. More importantly,
there's a sense of spiritual urgency that is much more compelling for
me. As I said, I don't know what it's all about and I'm not sure that
I really need to know. All aspects of my life are being affected by
this spiritual urgency, though. Career changes, geographical location
changes, people are coming in and out of my life...all of this seems as
if it's being generated by the spiritual stuff.

Does anybody else feel this or is it just me?

1402.8Weird, huh ?DWOVAX::STARKCan you feel it ?Thu Dec 20 1990 16:0821
I've had a growing sense of urgency that I attributed to the same
things as on Paul's list since about October, when I changed jobs,
(strangely from a more to less stressful one). Some weird notes
recently on silly communications stuff probably gave testimony to that.
    :-)

This morning, though, I don't know why, it transformed to partly a feeling
of clarity, like I'm just figuring out what my priorities are and what I
have to do. My work has gotten much more focused, and things seem much
clearer, but the urgency is still there in spades ! It is really hard
to just point to the list and say that those issues could have suddenly
become more real to me, although that's possible. Also mass hysteria,
'New Age' of whatever, something in the water ;-), etc.. But something
    is there.

I hope it helps for people to know it is definitely not an isolated
type of phenomenon, like Masking Passdown or something. ;-)

    	kind regards,

    Nanci,

About three years ago I started feeling this sense of urgency, similar
to what you are describing. However, in the last few months I've
become more centered (throught the various workshop and events I've
experienced). Now although I still feel as Mary does that we are
undergoing a transmutation, I've prepared and learned what I 'urgently'
needed too and am more ready for whatever my action/involvement in the
    process is to be.

Ro (admittedly I still have much to learn but am coming from a more
    grounded space)

Personally, I think this kind of feeling has swept through society
at different times. I think that this is what is described by all
those places in the Bible that refer to the return of Christ. I
think it's become a bit (just a bit?) literalized by Fundamentalist
    Christians.

I think it's just a general symptom of psychic growth, transformation,
change, etc. Lot's of stuff is happening in the outer, physical world,
which is bound to evoke certain responses in humans - and vice versa.

So from this perspective, it's that ol' ego-death-fear thing....

I like that idea 'cause it works for everything. :-)

RE: .5 (Frederick)

Yes, my Higher Self has been leading me all along. That is where the
sense of urgency comes from. You are right, we are in some potentially *very*
exciting times. I feel like I have been playing "catch-up" to be prepared. I
have been told not to worry, I will be ready for whatever is coming, but it
is hard at times not to feel rushed to prepare.

RE: .6 (Beth) and .7 (Nanci)

The effect is not so much on the physical as it is a Spiritual urgency.
It is a feeling, not so much to prepare myself for only my sake, but rather to
prepare myself to help others through the transition. I have absolutely no
feeling of dread or that something might happen to me. Quite the contrary, I
feel protected. I have a feeling of excitement; of a coming adventure that
will culminate in something wonderful. I have no details, however. And for
someone who "wants to know everything" about any situation, it's a bit
frustrating.

RE: .9 (Mary)

I, too, feel that what is coming will be a shift to a "higher level".
Probably a shift in mass consciousness - a paradigm shift - but the mechanics
of it I have no definite feeling for yet. I have a strong urge/drive to
"simplify" and become "mobile". Circumstances (Spirit) have been facilitating
that process.

The past couple of years have been very interesting for me. A lot of
pain (when I resist) and also a lot of JOY. When I finally let go and turned
things over to Spirit, then events really started to speed up. There is no
doubt in my mind that my life is being ordered to be optimally prepared for
what is to come. My relationships at *all* levels have been (and still are
being) realligned. My personal financial habits and methods have been shifted
to an almost exclusively cash basis. I have become mobile with no material
ties to this area (such as a house, etc.) And other miscellaneous changes...
These were not changes where I decided, "Well, I think I'll sell my house to
become mobile." I was directed by circumstances as surely as if I had been
led by my hand. Granted, I tugged at the lead sometimes, but it never changed
the eventual outcome. It only slowed things a bit and caused myself some pain.
When I don't resist, things flow along amazingly!

What awaits us around the corner of the new year?!

Larry...nice to hear from you again!

I too have felt this urgency for awhile now. It seems to increase
and decrease at times, but is always there. IMO, part of this has
to do with an increase in energy vibration. Our energy bodies are
being affected by the quickened earth vibrations, and in turn our
physical bodies are feeling this. Certainly, spiritually we are
being urged to move along with this.

I feel that humanity is on the verge of a major leap in consciousness.
Some will make the leap now, others later and maybe in different
ways. This is an opportunity to make that shift.

1402.15A Sobering Thought...CSOA1::CROUCHWalk in Balance...Fri Dec 21 1990 19:0154
Re: .13 (Ro)

This type of feedback strengthens my belief that major changes are
coming very soon. The theme for me seems to be: SIMPLIFY, BE ON A TOTALLY CASH
BASIS (as independant of the System as possible), BE MOBILE. These are
certainly not choices I would have consciously made since, by nature, I am a
person who seeks security in structure and routine. It looks like "be able to
adapt quickly" is where the true security will be.

Re: .14 (Carole)

Hi! I've been here all along but very quiet. It seems that now is the
time for me to begin being more active.

I agree with you about a "leap in consciousness" coming. Will this be
a sudden shift as in the "critical mass" theory, a gradual change through major
changes in the world economy, availability of energy, and the political climate,
or through the "predicted" earth changes? Or a combination? Will it be a
change that will be joyous or painful? These are the questions I am pondering.

How many of you came to your "awakening" through spontaneous, gentle,
and joyous circumstances. How many from a crisis or crises? I don't know if
it is the way we are taught by society, but crisis seems to be a common choice
for motivating most people to change. A lot of energy is provided by a crisis
toward change. I believe that the pain that almost always accompanies a crisis
is cause, not by the crisis, but by our RESISTANCE to the energies working for
the change. That is certainly true in my case!

Major crises facilitate major change. I feel that our ability to
rapidly adapt and *embrace* the change will carry us, as individuals, to the
next level, whatever it is.

Look at what is happening right now in the world. Russia is in turmoil
and rumors of an inpending military coup and resulting dictatorship are
surfacing. The world and local economic picture is worsening. We are on the
brink of a war that could destroy the oil fields in part, if not all, of the
middle east causing swift and drastic social and economic changes to those
countries so dependant on imported oil. And we are the most vulnerable to this.
I read a news report where it is believed that the Iraqies have "deep mined"
their oil fields. If they were to blow them, it would cause a HUGE fire that
could also destroy the Saudi fields.

It's easy for me to sit in my nice warm apartment, "safe" here in the
U.S. and ponder the possibility of "coming changes". It just hit me writing
this that we are on the brink of changes that will cause radical changes in
our lives right here in the good ole USA! For REAL, not just in theory! A
very sobering realization... This could be the *beginning* crisis to provide
the energy to enable the shift. How we view and handle the changes will,
of course, determine how easily we shift. Both individually AND collectively!

Well, I'm leaving for vacation until Jan 2nd. Happy Holidays to you
all!!! "Talk" to you when I get back!

I, too join with all of you in experiencing that sense of urgency, but
I feel a sense of inadequacy. Though I know I can "shine" and bring a
high energy level, what should I specifically be doing now to more
fully prepare for this exciting change?

Though I'm not interested in attending doomsday seminars, I would
appreciate knowing about any/all seminars on preparing for the change.

    re: .16

Yes, I know of at least one source...and the only one
    I personally will vouch for.

That source is Lazaris, who has outlined the coming decade
out for us (the way it presently sits) and who each December
talks about it. I attended this workshop last week, some others
in here attended the same topic in Boston three weeks ago.
As he has stated, if we can understand the whispers, we don't
have to hear the shouts and we can navigate through the rocks and
    the hard places.
Very, very briefly, he suggests we do this in the coming year
(which he has termed the Year of Exploration--of depth, potential,
    priorities and creativity.):
    1. What is our personal depth, discipline, joy, character, talents,
spirituality, options and potentials. If we look for these
answers voluntarily, we won't be forced (by our unconsciousness)
        to do so.
    2. Build a dream and start living it. Do this in the unconsciousness
(consciously--in meditation) for everything exists in the
        unconsciousness first.
[There was lots of explanation here about how to do this.]
    3. Determine who is writing the "script" of our reality (the child,
adolescent, parent? And then which among those: mean,
        cooperative, magical, etc.?)
    4. Work with the issues of exploration [described throughout the
talk] and deal with the things that keep it away (such as
        shame, co-dependency, self-pity, etc.)

Anyway, if you want to hear this, the tape should be available
through Concept:Synergy soon (see note 406.)

I would say that "critical mass" will play a distinct role resulting
in a sudden alteration of reality.

I doubt that the change manifesting in the world economy will be
gradual and they will inevitably result in changes in the political
climate. Availability of evergy may surprise us as the old source of
energy is replaced with a new one. And many predicted earth changes
    are already a reality.

Will the changes be joyous or painful? Both I would imagine...
depending upon who and what one is and where one is coming from.
... but in the final analysis.. things can only get better.
