522.0. "the demise of my favorite station - WMRQ" by LEZAH::BOBBITT (face piles of trials with smiles) Fri Oct 09 1987 12:58

help! My favorite new age radio station (and the only one I know
of in the Boston area) has switched its format to Oldies. Not that
oldies are bad, but there are more oldies/classic rock stations
around here than you can shake a stick at. So now WMRQ, Q-103,
(103.3) Quality Rock is gone. No more Musical Starstreams. No
more Midnight Cafe. If there is no other new age station in the
area, maybe I should buy stock in Wyndham Hill, cause I guess I'll
be "expanding my tape collection" a great deal.

*sigh* I knew it was too good to last

Hi Jody,

Any radio station that would play the Moody Blues back to back with
the Grateful Dead was for me just terrific.

I noticed the format change only yesterday.

The only other radio station I was listening to was WMDK 92 FM which
is in Peterboro NH.

I say was because I sort of lost my interest with them and listened to
the "Q".

I am very thankful I put a tape deck in my truck!

I'm curious about a radio alternative as well. Any more ideas??

_ Howard

    scuse me...

    dear -.1

that is the station I am lacking. I am trying to find a replacement
for WMRQ cause now it's ALL OLDIES.

'sallright...it's thursday and my brain is on vacation too.

also - strange things have been happening. Yesterday morning an
Illuminati game jumped off a shelf at me as I walked by (no I didn't
brush against it, and it had been there several weeks). Then last
night someone with fairly good aim threw wild and beaned me off
the head with a glass bottle (he was trying to hit the trash
can)...just a lump though. Then this morning I am driving to work
and someone at an off ramp who I thought was going to go, decided
to stop and wait....and a minor accident occurred and fortunately
nobody was hurt (thank insert-your-deity-here neither people nor
cars) but it definitely makes me think I'm turning into a walking
    disaster area.

I'm also distressed with the demise of Starstreams, but this morning I caught

an advertisement for WEVO (89.1 New Hampster Public Radio) for

Music from the heart of Space. (Sunday 6 P.M.)

522.7WBOS with a new format shows potentialLEZAH::BOBBITTthe closer I am to fineThu Jun 08 1989 18:1212
I've just heard of a new station to try. It's WBOS - with a new
format. They used to be country. Now in a given hour they'll play
The Beatles, Traffic, the Indigo Girls, Chick Corea, Jazz, New Age, etc.
They don't take requests and there's very little talk/commercials.
They do "lights out" (instrumental stuff show) from 11 to 12 p.m.
every night (I heard), and Sunday they do lots of jazz and spontanously
sometimes do an hour of a certain artist on the weekends.

    It's in Boston at 92.9 (I think).

522.8Nightscapes on WJIB in BostonVITAL::KEEFEBill Keefe - 223-1837 - MLO21-4Fri Jun 09 1989 16:036
Also in the Boston area, FM 97 (WJIB) has a show called Nightscapes
hosted by Ann Williams starting at 7pm (I think) that is playing "new age"
and other music on a nightly basis. She'll features songs of a particular
    artist at 9pm each night.
