2101.0. "Bad Tarot Reading?" by TNPUBS::PAINTER (Planet Crayon) Mon Feb 19 1996 20:46

I had my tarot cards read the other night and now wish I hadn't done
so. The first card I chose was the tower which apparently depicts a
disasterous upheaval in my life regarding relationships and work. The
second card was the hermit which depicts a period of isolation to
    reflect on my life.

All this has coincided nastily with the break up of my relationship
with my girlfriend. Why do I get the feeling that I have been here
before, on several occasions. Over the past few years it seems that
anytime I start to feel stable and happy with my life, somebody comes
along and decides "enough of that, he's enjoying himself too much" and
promptly throws a spanner in the works. I have tried to put a brave
face on it and tell myself that someday it will work out, but this
time I have had about as much as I can take. Call me defeatist, but
    what else can I do?

I probably did something real bad in a past life and am now paying
    for it.

    Comments most appreciated.

Lately, when finding myself seemingly under thirty fathoms of muck,
I've taken to reminding myself that this problem may be some life
lession that I'm supposed to be studying and learning something from.
And, if nothing else, it gives me some additional resolve, a purpose,
    and something to focus on.

I'm coming up on my 6th Saturn return and sometimes feel like I must
have stumbled into a post-graduate level 'course' during my Freshman
    year. :-)

Well, now you have an idea of what's coming up. For me, it would make
it easier to understand, accept, and go with what was going on.

Is there any possibility that the person who comes along and throws the
    spanner is actually you?

I'll bet that tarot reading didn't say anything that you didn't already
know. All a tarot reading does is illuminate or shed light on the
situation. I do hate it when the tower comes up in my cards. Also life
is full of upheavels. Some you do some caused by other events. If your
life is going rough then it's up to you to smooth it out. The hermit
doesn't always mean isolation. It can mean that you've lost your way or
that the place you were in wasn't the right place for you. It could
also mean guidance. If that's the case listen to your inner voice.
It'll help guide you out/through. If your girlfriend broke up with you
then for some reason it wasn't right for you. You probably already know
the reason why. Was the tower right side up or was it reversed?

Saturn does represent some of lifes lesson. It's also the planet of
disipline. It's also the planet that reaps your rewards or
punishments. You reap what you sow. Saturn takes 29 years to complete a
cycle. It only returns in your life once at 29 and again 29 years
later. This is when you take a major look at your life. It's where you
decide if what you have done is what you really want. The first saturn
return is where you really become responsible for your life. You grow
up - so to speak. Some people marry at this point. Some get divorced.
Some go to school....If they are in a relationship that isn't going
anywhere then you decide if you want to continue or move on to one that
will. Uranus is the planet of change.

6th Saturn Return...gosh, Dave...that would put you at about 180 years.
    I wouldn't have guessed you to be a day over 75!  (;^}

    Sometimes I feel 180. ;-) Now that I review a current chart, I see
that I'm not where I thought I was. Gurgle.

2101.8The Tower isn't always bad....BUNKA::LEMENFri Feb 23 1996 14:1113
I've read the Tarot for many years now, and I would call the Tower
a card that says that the existing structure of your life will definitely
change, This does not mean that the change will be disastrous.

It does mean that the change will be signifcant and have long-term effects.
The best example of this that I can think of is reading the cards for my self
right before I met the man who is now my husband: I got the Tower as my
crowning card. I went into a tailspin, and freaked out about it, but I met
Bill three days later and my life did turn upside down --- to be far, far better
than I dremed of.

Sweeping change is not usually comfortable, but that does not mean that it is
always disastrous or unpleasant.

I've heard that the Saturn Return thing happens at different times
for different people - not necessarily *at* 29 years of age and again
29 years later. This came from a friend who is an astrologer. I don't
really know anything about the tarot or astrology.

for some reason tarot cards seem to cover about a 3 month
period - at least every time i've done, seen or received a
reading. i don't know what it is about 3 months; something
to do with fate's relationship with the human interpretation
    of time, perhaps.

3 months down the road you could have a sparkling, wonderful
reading. like anything, though, it seems to be relative, a
reflection of the person's attitude toward the circumstances.
the loss of desired dreams can be just a step or stage to one
person yet devastating to another, even if it's the same
situation. even though most people seem to focus on the
reflection of events displayed by the cards, the chief goal of
the cards' vioce seems to be on one's attitude.

There once was a man on the cusp,
Who's Tarot read his soul to dust,
He pondered on about some Tower,
While, he and his gal soured!

    	Advice to him came about,
But it can't help his doubts,
If life throws you a spanner,
Do cards read in such manners?

    	I don't know of Saturn's Return,
And Uranus makes my head churn,
    	But, of this, I'm certain,
        If your love life's hurtin',
And faith in cards is in doubt,
Tis better to party than pout! BillM
