    It is possible that the white tomb was "put there" in order for
    you to be saved from the bullet, since you leaned down to investi-
    gate it further as the shot rang out over your head.  Your head 
    would probably have been in direct line of fire if not for the
    tomb.  I would say that this is the Peace Corp Candidate inter-
    pretation of what you experienced.

    	Yes, I have thought of this before. "White" possibly being the good
    and the tomb representing death; thus I was saved from death.
    	Still I will never forget the feeling of terror. But I think it was
    more the fear of Something beyond my grasp of what I term "reality".

    White is the color associated with death in places like Japan, while
    the West tends to use Black.

    the terror you felt was most likely what you suspect...being faced with
    the unknown.  For once in your life being unable to control the
    situation you were presented with.
    
    just my opinion, of course, but humans tend to crave control and hate
    being out of control.  The "alternative realm" of psychih phenomena is
    something we have little, if any control over.  It's possible that is
    why so many are obsessed with it.  We want to find a way to get control
    over it.
    
    In your being faced with something beyond your control, let alone your
    comprehension, it is normal to feel terrifed.
    
    I can't imagine what else it could have been except, as .1 suggests, a
    tool which was put in place to save your life.

    	Sorry I took so long to get back to you. I've been very busy.
    The "incident" of the vision of the tomb happened on a weird day; 
    Thanksgiving 1994. I've thought about that too. And believe me I gave
    Extra Thanks for that "stray" bullet not hitting me!!!

    I retained a different spin on the story about the white tomb.  I think
    the lucky hunter saw a premonition of his impending death.  And for
    reasons unknown, maybe the luck of some fate that even cheated his
    destiny at that particular moment, he was not killed.
    
    On his deathbed, my uncle saw a cross burning on his chest.  He asked
    several times, moments before drawing his last breath, "Why is there a
    burning cross on my chest?".
    

    I had an acquaintance who was severly over-weight and had many
    health problems due to his weight.  The night before he died he
    was talking with his sister on the phone and said he could hear
    the angels calling his name.  He went to bed and never woke up.

    i don't understand why people think the appearance of the tomb
    saved this topic's originator.  unless i read the story wrong, it
    sounded like it was the tomb that caused him to go over to the wrong
    place at the wrong time in the first place.   
    
    i think the animals did it - to let him know what it feels like to be
    stalked, hunted, and shot at.  or maybe he did it to himself.  perhaps
    he has some conflict about stalking animals that he hasn't quite dealt
    with.  
    
    i wonder if joe knows whether the bullet hole he found in the "real",
    physical dimension was fresh.  the sound of the bullet could have been
    of another dimension - maybe he simply "thought" the bullet arrived
    just then.  don't know.  would need more details.
    
    i disagree with what someone said in here about people having
    little or no control over psychic stuff.

    yes, that seems to be the point he's at - uncertain whether he wants
    to go hunting in that area again, or for that matter go hunting 
    anywhere.
