| It has been suggested that the house in a dream is a representation of
ourselves (input from many different sources) and you lived in that
same house for a long time. It's pretty safe to assume you have many
good memories of that time in your life and were very comfortable
there.
Moving around a lot (I speak from experience) is very disrupting to
one's life and regardless of the reason for moving (a positive or
negative one) there is a great deal of stress involved and it takes
quite a bit of time before all the sounds of the house become sounds
you're used to every night, etc etc
Not knowing what is going on in your personal life I can't say, but if
there is unrest, (i.e. you are worried about your job security) it's
possible you desire stability...a stability your sub-conscious most
likely relates to your former home.
Just a thought...
from a dream over-analyzer...

| I like what .1 had to say...
It made sense to me because of my similar experiences as the
basenoter. This past year, I dreamt many many times about
being in my childhood home (where I was based for 25 years).
So many times, I began to wonder what was going on. And then,
I started having dreams of my grandparents' house, a wonderful
Victorian beauty that was a happy place for me to be. Again,
I dreamt about it so many times, I actually drove to see it.
The dreams have not been centered around childhood locales for a
few months now. I never thought of it until I read the basenote
and the first reply. Eureka! Yes, I was under stress...Yes, I
was facing a move to new home...Yes, I was worried about job
security... Why wouldn't I subconsciously yearn for 'simpler'
times?
I have no idea if the interpretation offered by .1 is
acknowledged by professionals, but it certainly makes sense
to me. From here on, I will pay attention when and if I start
to dream of childhood homes again; my subconscious may be
trying to tell me something about my stress level!
