1932.0. "Nastradamus" by CDKAOS::SYSTEM () Sat Apr 09 1994 12:34

NASTRADAMUS was a psychic from the 1500's who predicted many things
which have happened in the 1900's. There are over 200 books written
about him. Can anyone recommend a good source of books on Psychics like
Nastradamas? There was a telivision program a few weeks ago on channel
4 or 5 which talked about nastradamas and other more current psychics
such as those predicting major catastrophies around the year 2000.
Does anyone have pointers to literature about psychics of the 20th
    century?

I have been reading books by Mary Summer Rain. Phoenix Rising was one
of things to come. Writing wasn't the best but the message was pretty
    clear.

I guess I can count on some unspoken groans for mentioning
    that I think James Randi's _The_Mask_of_Nostradamus_ makes a few
interesting points on the subject of Nostradamus' prophecies.

I have my doubts as well ... mainly because someone is profiting from
the sale of these prophecies. Furthermore these prophecies are all based
upon interpretation. Some of the more recent ones for example ,the
earthquake prophecy for S, California in May of '92 ?, was wrong.
It would be interesting to see the actual quatrains though ....

    Jamie,

Care to translate it? My Middle French is non-existent and my Modern
    French is getting there.

Ah, there's the rub. Nostradamus was (even by the standards of *his*
day) very cavalier about his spelling. He even made up words. So,
    translation and interpretation go hand-in-hand.

    Fairy Nuff.

A completed year of the great number seven
It will appear during the Games of the Hecatombe
Not far from the great age-year
As you enter them they will come out of their tomb.

A question. Does it now make any more sense?

    Jamie.

No, but I now I *know* I have no idea what he's talking about ;^)

Actually, as I read it, I would read it as 1998 that whatever it is
will happen. But then, this is my first quatrin reading.

    Thanks, Jamie,

to be covered is the predictions of Nostradamus.FYI

I started to watch the show, and after about 10 minutes, flipped the
channels. It felt to me like it was far too 'sensationalistic' in its
approach. For example, the 'scientists' vs. the 'strange ones who felt
    the energy' in the pyramids.

Having just been in a weekend workshop with Fred Alan Wolf and Nicki
Scully (who leads initiatic tours to Egypt and the pyramids), it just
didn't compare to some of the stories and experiences that she
    mentioned during the workshop.
