1773.0. "Gemini Eclipse" by ODIXIE::LEWIS () Fri Dec 04 1992 16:09

I have never contributed to a notes file, although I found Dejavu to be
very interesting. I ask that you each please bear with me since I'm
    new to this!

I have a question... There is an eclipse on December 8th or 9th in
Gemini. I am not sure if this is Lunar or Solar, but I was wondering
what impact this has on people, myself and others.

    I am a Capricorn born 1/8/60, here in Georgia at 3:31 p.m., I believe I
have Gemini rising. I've never had my chart done but have considered this
quite a bit lately since I've been through a lot of adversity the past
three years and suddenly feel things beginning to change. How much
does this eclipse affect my rising sign?

Subject: 'Shame-on-Columbus' eclipse coming: astronomer
Date: Mon, 30 Nov 92 15:13:51 PST

MIAMI (UPI) -- A Miami astronomer Monday named the upcoming
lunar eclipse the ``Shame On You, Christopher Columbus Eclipse''
because of its historical significance.

Jack Horkheimer, Executive Director of the Miami Space Transit
Planetarium said the Dec. 9 event is a repeat of a similar eclipse the
Italian explorer used to ``extort provisions from native Americans.''

``Back in 1504 when Columbus was marooned in what is now St.
Anne's Bay, Jamaica and extremely short on supplies, he decided he
would frighten the natives into giving him anything he wanted,''
Horkheimer said. ``Using his German almanac, he summoned the
chieftains to a meeting on the afternoon of February 29th knowing
that a total lunar eclipse would occur a few hours later.

``Columbus told the chieftains that God observed with
disapproval how negligent they were in bringing provisions to His
chosen ones. Therefore God would presently send them a clear token
from heaven of the punishment they were about to receive.''

Horkeimer said a repeat of the 75-minute eclipse that natives
observed that evening will begin at 6:07 p.m. EST, and be most
spectacular in North and South America from a line drawn east of the
Mississippi River.

``They'll see a bit of it on the west coast, but Hawaii's not
going to see it,'' he said.

A lunar eclipse occurs when Earth is aligned directly between
the Sun and the full Moon.

Horkheimer said the Moon could turn various shades of red as
Earth's shadow flows across its surface at speeds of more than 2,000 mph.
The redness occurs from sunlight filtering through Earth's atmosphere.

``The Indians were so frightened, that with great howling...
they came running to the ship, laden with provisions, beseeching
(Columbus) to intercede,'' Horkeimer said. ``So it seems like almost
cosmic justice that during the last month of the 500th anniversary of
a man of great ego and small principle that the heavens themselves are
proclaiming that Columbus was not such a nice guy after all by staging
a lunar eclipse that will appear almost exactly like the one in 1504.''

The effects of a lunar eclipse usually last about 3 months. Solar
eclipse effects can last from 6 months to a year, generally. If you
have your birthchart, see where 18 degrees of Gemini falls. This
area will be sensitized for about 3 months. Depending on what house
it occurs in, if any planets are aspected, and if you have any
transits/progressions to the eclipse degree, you can determine what
kind of impact this eclipse could have on you.

The eclipse in gemini hits my Jupiter right about next week, in the
house of my career. Major and sudden changes expected here, especially

    Brian,

I wouldn't look at this negatively! Having the eclipse hit your
Jupiter in the 10th house could very well indicate some new
opportunities coming your way over the 3 month period after the
eclipse. Keep your options open and stay aware of what is out
there. If I were having this scenario in my own chart, I'd be
    very optimistic!

    Carole,

I need a class to understand the astrology terminology. What
does one look for on their chart to find 18 degrees of Gemini
or figure it out in language an 8 year old could figure out?

    Hi Joanne,

Not having your chart handy, I don't know where this occurs
for you. Here is the symbol for Gemini:

         ______
          | |
          | |
         ------

Look at your chart and see what house cusp(s) (the lines of the
pie shapes) it corresponds to. There is a possibility that
Gemini might be intercepted, meaning it falls between two house
cusps so it is not reflected on the cusps themselves.
Each sign is 30 degrees. Once you locate where Gemini is in
your chart, just look at the larger number next to it to get
an idea at what degree the cusp starts at and count either
forward or backward (or if intercepted, it will fall almost
    smack in the middle).

It's difficult to describe if you are not familiar with the
chart wheel, and we don't have it in front of us.

I just got thru with watchin the Full_Moon/Eclipes.
From my View_Point in Northen_Mass. It took about an Hour and 45 Mins.
The Reflected side of the Moon started on it's left side at around
    7pm and completed to a Full_Shinin_Moon at Around 8:45.
    It was ......Some_Thin_Else.

I've had the chance to observe. Beautiful. I didn't remember to try to
tune in for spiritual energy. Did any else "hear" anything?

I did magick during the eclipse... a beautiful spell it was too..
1773.22It's gonna be alright!!ODIXIE::LEWISThu Dec 10 1992 12:1122
I entered the original note. I found out on Monday that I will be
TFSO'd next week. I am divorced and raising four boys alone yet I
still feel very positive about my path and am truly excited about
being challenged and motivated again. I feel a lot of complacency at
DEC right now. The morale around here has been worse than any
place I've ever worked. I've tried to stay on top of everything but no
one seems to care about their jobs anymore and the environment has been
    so unproductive.

I have the chance to build again and feel happy that I'll have some
positive things happen in 1993. We do have to create our own
opportunities and remain steadfast in faith and grounded in love. In
the end all things work out and we are always so limited by what we see
in the present without really looking down the road 20 years or so when
the picture will be much more complete. I like tapestries and often
compare my life to one. This is just on thread of many that will
create a beautiful masterpiece one day.

Remember...yesterday has passed beyond our reach-we can't cling to it,
tomorrow is no more than a hopeful dream, we can't always count on it,
but today is a coin in eternity's treasure...we have to rejoice in it.

I commend you on your inspiring attitude. I'm confident that it will
posture you on to many great things; I believe your boys are both a
driver and a nourisher of that good energy.

By the way, you easst-coasters got 100% of that eclipse (here in NM we
got 65-70%). I wish you one hundred percent sucess in your future.
